Unfortunately I'm not really a 42" anymore :(
I think they only had enough material to make a couple of jackets , and they dropped them into the sales pages for next to nothing.
This was back in the day when sale / experimental Aero's were often less than £150 !

Finally decided it was time to start my first post.
Had this Aero a while , bought from the Aero Sale page.
Seem to remember that it was an attempt to create the appearance of a particular type of aged hide using really heavy goatskin.
See what you think...

I really like the look of the Aero 30's HB and yours is a really unique jacket. Thanks for posting.

As an extra , here are a few pics of a Tan Half-Belt , my Mid-Brown FQHH Highwayman and a Cordovan Barnstormer in very heavy steerhide.
The Highwayman is just used to try and give you a guide to the colour of the half-belt , as it's a bugger to photograph , (almost as bad as the cordovan ).
Both the Tan Half-Belt and the Barnstormer were from the old sale pages , made from a limited run of a particular hide.

I really like that tan.
I wish they still did jackets in it as an option, it ages well!!!
Cool jacket, thanks for sharing.

I love goat, but from those photos, I'm not at all keen on that finish.

pretty severe I know ... that's probably why it didn't get taken up for regular use at Aero.
They obviously improved their techniques for the current horsehide jackets.
Wonder if Cloudylemonade or anyone else back at Aero HQ can remember what they used to age the hide ?

I've seen something like that done before by people trying to age their hides on boots, jackets, etc. They used black shoe polish on the piece, then scrub it off - it tends to stick to the creases and worn areas. I don't like it myself - there's simply no replacement for time/wear.
The jacket looks like it's nice, but the finish would put me off.

Unique looking hide. I wish everyone would upload pictures to the post instead of links. It is easy to do as you see coloradorider did it for you for the first set of pics. Sorry for my whining.

posted some pictures 'properly' on another thread , but when I tried to do the same for this post , I kept getting invalid url messages ..
after about an hour I gave up and just posted the links.
don't know why it failed to work at the time , as I used the same method that worked in my other posting ?
better luck next time ..
