I always wished I had a tailored Harris Tweed jacket because most of those on the market here in the States are cut to a very generous proportion.

So, I stopped into one of my favorite sources and there it was: Harris Tweed, leather buttons, duel vents, patch pockets, a great tweed, and it fits me nicely. It was $8.00. Who could beat that?

It looks like it was tailored for me. The back:

So, what do you fellows think? Sometimes you get lucky for under $10!

Looks very nice, and nicely fit!

Unfortunately, my figure isn't quite conducive to that fit in clothing anymore.

BTW - recent threads have me trolling for a decent houndstooth two-button sport coat again. You are all a collective bad influence! lol

Looks very good Hem! It certainly does look like it was made for you. It looks even better in person, but the pictures came out great. You look handsome as usual, and your eyebrows look quite nice too!:p lol ;)

Those are the best.

I got a 5 dollar RL plaid from a goodwill a couple years back. I wear it all over and saw it on their webpage that year on sale for $800. i think i got a better deal.

Good lookin' Hem.
Thanks, Matt. Yes, those are the best deals.

Wow! That is a great price. I have been keeping my eye out for a Harris Tweed for a couple of years.....but the cuts are not good on the ones I have found. Lucky you!
Thanks MK! I agree; that is the problem I have found. The Orvis jackets, and others, fit like sacks. That is why I was so happy with how this fit and with the double vents, which make the back look very nice.

Well done, Amanda. :)

Hem, you now need a soft cap, a Labrador and a crisp morning in the New Hampshire woods.
lol Very funny, Scott. She was with me, you know. ;)
I think it is time for an 8-panel cap. :)

While I was the talented photographer here, I cannot take credit for Hemingway’s clothing. I must say that I am very pleased to have a husband-to-be who can dress himself, and do so very well. ;)

I'm curious: Why was the double back vent such a plus? I tend to avoid those, thinking they look not so vintage. Am I wrong?

Side vents were around back in the day, especially on country garb like a tweed sportcoat. Both side and center vents go way back.
