I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner. Thank you for sharing this. Can you imagine having any other President than FDR during this time? He was smart. He knew how to talk to people. During a rough economy (especially during a Great Depression), it's hard to motivate people.

I've been on a real FDR kick lately. I read Roberty Sherwood's "Roosevelt and Hopkins", a good place to start, a couple years ago. Now on Volume 3 of Harold Ickes' Secret Diaries. Fascinating time, fascinating characters, and SOOOO relevant to the present.

I know what you mean. I feel like we experiencing a real sense of deja vu with the economic crisis that is happening now. I wonder why more people are not taking a real hard look into what FDR did to help the nation get out of the Great Depression. Obviously what he did worked (maybe not at first or without opposition). I mean there's got to be a reason why he served four terms as President! Obviously a lot of people put a lot of faith into what he was trying to do.

I've been really wishing for a WPA project lately (I'm a poor art student graduate). :D

Now we all have to think. If FDR was still around:

What Would FDR Do?
