70s Perfecto- Remove rear belt loop?

Does the single belt loop on back look out of place in normal society ?

Thinking about surgically removing the rear single loop as I kind of feel it looks out place / ruins the back of the jacket sometimes. I would keep the two front loops though.

To me it would still have a weird back without the single loop.
The Schott 125 has that weird dip and triangular side laces, with the single center loop its a whole package.
I would leave it and enjoy it for what it is. If you want one without belt loops get a "regular" Perfecto,or a Schott 621.

I actually kind of like the unique triangle lace up side panels and the dip. Just not certain about that single loop. Any idea on how much less it would sell for vs the way it is now all original ?

I opened this thread thinking that I would tell you to leave it alone as that is usually my inclination when it comes to jacket mods. After seeing the photo though I definitely think that loop has to go, it offends my sensibilities! If you like the jacket then I would have that thing removed.

This is sort of a plastic surgery question... Yeah, I like big boobs, but I would never, ever want a woman to get implants. Nature is a better designer than we can ever be. You're not going to "improve" it by removing that jacket's back belt loop. Sell it to someone who wants it 100% intact and go buy something you like more. In fact, you asked how much less it would be valued if it was modified, so you're clearly not til-death-do-us-part wedded to the jacket.

I should add that sometimes practical utility features, like those loops, are part of the appeal of certain garments. I might not always like those details, and I might think they look naff or could have been better executed, but they were there for a reason and I think that has value/appeal in itself.

If you remove the loop, keep it in case you sell. Not difficult to sew back on.

Though I would keep the belt loop.

Appreciate all the insight / opinions. I'm definitely not into having a full sam brown belt on / or any of the partially belted MC jackets. Just not my thing, which is why I was drawn to this particular Perfecto. And I never actually minded that loop until I took that back selfie! I'm going to try cinching in the side laces which should pull the lower back panel in up and re-take the selfie. Maybe it will look more "normal" in my eyes. This might also be the case of just having something different than Im used to and automatically labelling it odd or not right. I have a hard time venturing out of my comfort zone.

I put my finger over the monitor to block the belt loop, it doesn't look like much improvement, then with added scar from the stitches, and perhaps even color difference in leather probably a blacker patch under the loop, leave it alone.

I used to hate single slanted back belt loop on my raw jeans, until I hang a thick brass " O " jump ring, now it becomes cool detail I like, maybe you can do the same a thick D or O ring hang it there to theoretically hook your wallet chain there or something. But it has to be a thick heavy duty looking ring, a mere keychain ring won't do the same effect

That is comparison a thick brass ring vs keychains.

I hear you. I think that loop looks conspicuous and I couldn't wear the jacket knowing that was there.

By all means venture out of your comfort zone, man.
1. Wear it as is then...
2. Get a belt and wear it then...
3. Remove the loops and wear then...
4. Sew the loops back then...
5. Repeat 1-4 PRN

This!

If the loop bothers you, you know what to do. I personally don't mind it but honestly, if you're gonna keep the jacket and don't intend of wearing a belt with it, remove all three loops because with just two it'd look silly.

I think it'll be a beautiful jacket once you remove all three loops. Cleaner, less fussy Perfecto is the kind of thing they're going for nowadays and I really like the look. So yeah, either you leave it or remove all three.

It's a really cool jacket that fits you so well in which case I'm all for customization.

Odd thing though... While I love the half (attached) belt on the regular Perfecto, I can't stand wearing a full belt on any jacket that can accommodate it, like the Cal CHP. It always slides off, for one but the whole jacket feels off.
