I got this Herc at Terry's 2019 New Year's sale. Leather was in great vintage condition, liner and pockets - not so much. No original label either - the label you see in the pic I got off some moth-eaten Sears wool jacket I got off the bay for $15...:). Not sure if the label is period-correct, but what the heck, I wanted a label.

I put out a call on TFL for sources of quality quilted fabric. Surprisingly, good quilted fabric is not easy to come by unless you want cheap stuff from Etsy. Greg Field answered the call! He had 2 yards of beautiful deep navy, wool-backed quilted lining fabric from his practice he could part with. Thank you Greg (@Honeyman1935)- a genuinely good guy deserving of all the TFL business he can get! The new lining has somewhat higher grammage than the old one - I got myself a winter jacket! Lined the pockets with it too - they don't call them hand-warmer pockets for nothing! Better be a cold winter coming ;) On to the pics:

Between this and the Score, I don't know which you hit further out of the park. Good on Greg too, that's good stuff.

Thank you JMax. All I know about leather jackets I learned at TFL in less than a year, and I am happy not to strike out. I do love Greg's navy liner - deep sheen, heavy batting. I think I like the navy color better that the original, although the Sears red is great too.

The red is very nice but that Navy works too. Like you said, it has an eye-catching sheen. You just sort of get lost in it a bit.

That’s fantastic and what a great gesture from Greg. The fit on this looks perfect! I’ve always liked the various Herc jackets with this front pocket config. Sweet!

Wow, looks great! (I was also surprised a few years ago when I was looking to source linings how hard it was to get real quilted jacket lining.)

Yes, not easy. Some can quilt the fabric for you - custom - but 2 yards does not make sense. I even wrote to a few jacket manufacturers - no one replied. Not really surprising and don't blame them at all. Just goes to show Greg's nice gesture.
