We have a Primark here in Berlin and it's just gross. Hordes of identical looking kids (well, mostly) nearly collapsing under dozens of Primark bags with the cheapest of clothes swarming the surronding eras and metro stations. Won't be long before people start leaving their homes for better, less infested parts of the city... :eusa_doh:

Primark is an Irish clothing retailer, operating in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Ireland (38 stores branded as Penneys), Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The company's main headquarters are in Dublin; they are a subsidiary of British food processing company ABF. Primark first opened in June 1969 in Mary Street (Dublin). It became apparent that more stores were required and another four were added to the chain.
Further expansion and success in Ireland dictated the move to the United Kingdom, when in 1971 it opened a large store in Belfast City Centre before opening four out of town stores in England in 1973. The first high-street stores were Derby and Bristol.

Market position: Primark sells clothes at the budget end of the market. The company sources cheaply, using simple designs and fabrics in the most popular sizes and buys stock in bulk."

There is a new Primark in Ruhrgebiet too but I never went there. I heard it was always crowded with kids. The hype must be because of cheap prices and not many stores in germany.

I guess it is not much worse than H&M so I can't do much finger pointing.

Like most high street brands, it uses exclusively sweatshop labour. It is now, of course, very difficult to avoid sweatshop labour. Primark minimises its costs by using astonishingly low quality fabrics, tolerating abysmal quality control and relentlessly marketing its loss leaders.

It's no worse than H&M, Topman, etc. etc. in terms of the exploitation of third world workers, but is significantly worse in terms of fabric quality and quality control.

All this, of course, is an excellent reason to buy vintage …

i ll check them out if i get chance or look at one when they come onto the second hand market via charity shops then at least the money will go to charity should i decide to get one.....when I saw them I didnt get chance to really look closely so couldnt comment on real quality other than they looked ok... Perhaps another U K lounger could look a bit closer to see if ethics aside they are worth considering at all?
