Hi everyone,
After doing a lot of research 5 years ago on this fantastic site, I took the plunge on this jacket. As much as I can appreciate its craftsmanship and beauty, I'm afraid that I ready for another look. That said, this jacket has been a great companion, warm enough in below-freezing temperatures and comfortable into the 60s (F). Although I didn't exactly test its limits (as some on this site confess doing with their leather jackets), it has stood up to the elements admiringly. The stitching is fully intact, and the heavy nylong lining is in perfect condition. Nevertheless, I've done the heavy lifting on the break-in! The leather is soft and pliable, especially the collar and sleeves; the grain
has popped substantially; and the finish has light scuffs along the elbows and edges, giving you a hint of the tremendous character that will emerge in the years to come. Kept in a smoke- and pet-free home.
I paid $975 for this jacket when I bought it directly from Stu in 2010 (during the summer sale; hence, 15% off of
the regular price of $1150). I'm hoping to recoup $550 (plus whichever method of shipping the buyer prefers). Here's Lost Worlds' page:
http://www.lostworldsinc.com/Horsehide_Leather_Pea_Coat.htm
The approximate specs are as follows:
Leather thickness/weight: 3.5 oz
Jacket weight: 5 lbs 6 oz
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 19.5 in
Shoulder seam to cuff: 25 in
Pit to pit (lying flat): 22 in
Collar seam to rear hem: 31.5 in
Opening at hips (lying flat with jacket buttoned): 23 in
Please feel free to PM or email me directly (paul.morales.dennis@gmail.com) if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Paul (Cheech)
