Very tempted by McCall 7824, though I'm trying to figure out if the gathered skirt bits are sewn down onto the skirt, or to a separate circular bit that is then sewn to the waistband of the skirt...

Thanks for the clarification. I was hoping it would be drafted into the skirt construction itself- as well as the shoulder yoke being part of the back, which does not seem to be the case either. I think I'll have to pass on any more patterns this time.
