Lewis Leathers' Lumber Jacket is a dead-ringer for this jacket, and it's available in cow and sheepskin (black only).

The rear is the same, certainly. Front, waistband, collar and cuffs too divergent to be a dead ringer. I think the eBay jacket is significantly older than the D. Lewis original on Lewis' website, which looks like it bears a mid-late 40s Lightning. The Millett one on eBay appears to have a very early Kynoch or Dot zipper. (The stopper box isn't right for Dot, so I'd be guessing Kynoch)

Yes, the copies of those early D Lewis jackets are awesome (as are the originals downstairs at the Lewis Leathers shop).

I wish LL offered their jacket in brown sheepskin or horsehide. You can't get either. In brown the only leather they offer is cowhide. "Premium" and Italian veg-tanned. As cowhide isn't my thing, I haven't pulled the trigger. They offer black sheepskin, but I've mostly seen this style jacket in brown leather and like that color.

Not bad, but not a brilliant price. For all the workwear mania that's been going on in Britain, British leather jackets still sell quite cheaply. Anyone over here who wants leather tends to want European or American stuff, at least in my experience.[huh]

Pity the poor British jackets!

Joel, I was in the LL shop recently...despite what it says on the website they do the Lumber and Countryman jackets in both a mid brown and a dark brown sheepskin as well as the black. The cowhide is fairly ordinary looking stuff, but the sheepskin (all three colours) was absolutely spot on - and I speak as someone who has handled a great many original mid-20th century British jackets.
