1957 British Household Calvary Officers Jacket

Almost the last thing i have to sell is this No 3 Dress jacket. Made in twill cotton. So far as i can tell all buttons are present an correct. It has short side vents at the back. All the pockets have scalloped flaps and are pleated. The top pockets have, in addition to the large button, a snap at either side of the flap (at the points of the flaps). I guess for extra closure security. The jacket closes at the throat with a hook and eye arrangement. You can see the "hooks" on the left collar end. Far too big for me. I bought it in Aberdeen about 10 years ago. I think i paid about 15 GBP for it. measurements below. See label for sizes it was designed to fit . . .

Chest: 21.5-22"
Length: 30"
Arm: 26.5"
Shoulder: 18"

As always, PM with interest.

I can't remember, but i think you can send PM after 25 posts or so. People usually achieve this by posting inanities like "nice hat" or "nice jacket" in random threads.

Anyhoo, you'll have first refusal on it when you PM me.

The price, by the way, (i didn't mean to be so woolly about it in the OP) is £15. Shipping to the USA will come to about £6.50. Paypal preferred, but other (within USA) options are do-able.

cheers!

Note the cavalry-style collar and cuffs (with buttons). The back treatment is typical of British Army officers' tunics. This is a nice one and would have been substantially the same in WW2 and even before. You can obtain Queen's crown brass buttons very cheaply.

The guy in Aberdeen had (has?) a huge stack of these, too . . . I remember all of my friends went down after i'd got my KD trousers to pick some up, and half came back with the Aertex version (trousers). I really must go back to see if he still has them. He's not the kind of business to do much trade, if you know what i mean. But an excellent introduction to vintage clothing.
