The `42 paratrooper jump jkt is quite well documented.

But ATF is now manufacturing a repro of the less common `41 model.

Nice stuff. Handy pockets. Kind of charming that they went into combat in these khaki uniforms. I'm not so sure how practical these jkts were for actual parachuting. Tho they were extremely helpful to the morale of the troopers. The specialized uniforms engendered a snappy elite status. They werent very happy when jump suits & jump boots were eventually replaced by combat uniforms & buckled combat boots.

looks practical for jumping

In the UK we are issued parachutist Smocks with a 'beaver tale' contraption [hardly altered from conception in 1942] that comes from the back and fixes at the front. This is supposed to stop your jacket riding up when in the slipstream. Well in all my days of jumping I never saw a single Para do his up. No problems with para smocks riding up.

So called Arctic Windproof smocks are a different story no poppers and always ended up in a bundle around my chest.
