Dusted off my vintage 40's men's sheepskin jacket this morning. I had it treated about a year and a half ago, and haven't worn it since last winter.

Sort of Timberline style, but much earlier vintage. Looks and feels like it could be new, no stiffening of the skin or loss of fur, but dated 1946

Anyone else have a vintage shearling? They're terrifically warm, especially this time of year

Now I always thought shearling was the US word for sheepskin. The word shearling is used to describe any garment made from the skin of a lamb or sheep that has been tanned with the curly wool left on.

This is very similar, only the lapels are a different shape, less rounded than the vintage version

I have a 40 year old Shearling coat that is similar to the one in the picture above. It's so warm that I personally cannot wear it unless it's 20 degrees Farenheit or below outside.
