My gosh! I sold this suit years ago! (And I recognize the jacket & trouser labels!)

I found it in one of Santiago de Chile's used clothing stores, which imports old garments from Germany. Won't tell you how little I paid. (Chileans aren't into pre-1970s vintage clothing, so I used to have a field day picking up 1900s-1930s fur overcoats, frock coats, suits, leather coats, even belted back jackets ... all imported from Germany.

This particular suit is from the 1930s. Never did fit me; I bought it to sell in the U.S. Can't even remember who I sold it to.

Small world ...

Is it actually brown or a different color?

A photo makes my blue suit look brown. Kind of funny. I like the color too. lol

With Mr. Chevalier, what goes around comes around, I guess

Like a loyal dog, it's come looking for its former master. :) If this suit fit me, I'd buy it back in a heartbeat.

Now I am wondering how many old photos of men with blue suits are actually wearing brown ones and how many men wearing brown suits are actually wearing...ahhh, nevermind, I'm getting too confused.

By the way marc...How many times have you seen YOUR suits in the hands of another after selling it to a different person??

Never before now, although I once saw a 1950s Italian motorcycle cop's coat (also found in Chile) on eBay nearly 10 years after I'd sold it. Turns out the guy I'd sold it to then sold it to someone else, who ended up selling it on eBay.

I get a kick out of seeing these things a second time!

Marc - what was the position regarding fully lining men's jackets back in the 30s? Why would they have done it in Germany and not in the US?

Every old German suit jacket I've ever seen has been fully lined. The wool has ranged from fairly heavy to extremely bulky -- we're talking overcoat fabric here.
