How? Naphtha won't do it (I've tried on a similar cap), and Biz or Oxyclean will ruin the leather sweatband.

Well, you take out the sweatband, wash it, then restitch the sweatband. Very simple stitch to put in a cap sweatband.

Too bad its not my size or I would have grabbed it already. Can anyone direct me to a thread where it talks about how to curl the leather sweatbands like the pics on this one? Does that process have a name?

Well, you take out the sweatband, wash it, then restitch the sweatband.

But there's another problem with washing a vintage cap like this one. Chances are high that its visor has a piece of cardboard inside. Soak the cap in water, and the cardboard will dissolve and be ruined.

"Dissolve" isn't the right word. I meant to say "disintegrate".

Yes, that is an issue. his is the reason you have to carefully massage the soap into the fabric with a soft sponge (I use the ones designed for sponging cars). And use minimal water to soak the soap out of there again. Everything's possible with a little bit of care.
