I used to design ads for a living and I love old ads like these. I have now switched to a landscaping job so I could use some good work clothes like that! The big shouldered men in the ads remind me of the big guys in my family.

I wonder what the idea was back then about denim pants and turn ups. I guess they are an informal cuff? Years ago I would buy jeans a size longer than I needed and would turn up the legs, I think I did that because I didn't know any better.

When I was a kid, my mom bought 'em for me that way so I wouldn't grow out of them so fast. I guess because everyone did it that way it became the 'right' way to wear them.
