In my mission to get down to ten vintage hats, I have put ten more on ebay, all ending Sunday. When in doubt as to 40's or 50's, I've put 50's.

Link to Runscott Hats on Ebay

Stetson Royal - 1950's jet black pencil roll 7 3/8
Stetson Royal - 1950's grey-brown bound-brim 7 1/4
Stetson - 1960's olive-green 7 1/4 western with interesting ribbon
Lee Adventure - 1950's lt brown 7 3/8
Adam Executive - 1950's? dk brown 7 1/4
Borsalino - 1970ish G.B. Borsalino line orange 7 1/8
Borsalino Grand Luxe - 1960's dk brown 7
G.B.Borsalino - 1920's 7
Stetson - 1970's white western 7 1/4
French Straw - unfinished 1800's 7 1/4

I have four more to add to ebay, then I'm done:

Stetson Royal - lt brown 1950's 7 1/4
Whippet - blue-grey 7 5/8 LO
Wormser - dk brown 1950's 7 1/8
Borsalino O.R.-style - silverbelly 7 1/4 - just cleaned by Optimo

You've got some great stuff, Scott. Thanks very much for posting this. I don't suppose there is a Fedora Lounge Member discount? :D

Thanks Garrett. I would have preferred to just put all these for sale on the lounge, but I actually have a space problem here and need to get a lot of stuff out fast - girlfriend is moving in to my 480 sq-ft studio, and my kids are coming in town for two weeks. I seriously considered just covering my walls with hat-racks, but the reaction I received to that idea was not positive :)

I used to have about 50 pool cues, and before that it was hundreds of collectible books, before that it was about thirty vintage baseball uniforms, bats, gloves. This is a trend that I can't seem to run from.

I have a sneaky suspicion that I am not alone here in terms of hoarding habits.

These are the reasons I've got to just say NO to this classifieds section. hehehe :) I'm already watching a few and wishing I didn't have a big bill to fix a hot water heater. Doggonit! That stetson royal is calling me. Even the old Stetson #1 looks like all kinds of potential for a nice old used hat.

My only hope is to not even view ebay or the classifieds. Yesterday while I was listing hats and did a BIN :(

The black Stetson Royal is one of the nicest hats I've owned, but just doesn't quite work on my head. I'm not enjoying selling the Stetson #1 - I'm certain it will sell for less than it's worth to me, but I'm also certain that whoever gets it will love it for what it is - I've already put a lot of work into it. If I didn't have the Fed IV, I would definitely keep it, probably trimming the brim down to proportional, 2 3/4 at front.

Yeah, I'm guilty of buying while selling too! Got my bid in on that nice early Borso. More than I want to spend or could ever get for it by resale but, to me, the rarity and quality is worth it. History like that is priceless.

I was looking at the gray Royal
( I guess I have to stick with 7 1/4 hats - ?? I'm a newb.. It's sad ) :)

That Adams Executive looks sharp as well.. Don't know much about the name.. hat looks sharp. :)

I bought that hat purely for the historical aspect - I just 'needed' to get a close-up look at it. If I could stretch it to 58.25cm, no way I would ever sell it. I have a billiard history and baseball history website, so that's my primary motivation for having so many hats. I will probably build a hat history website at some point.

The Adam Executive is a VERY nice JohnnyPhl hat that I received in trade, but one of three hats I have that are almost the same exact color.

The grey Royal just didn't work for me - too much taper and not enough brim for an O.R.-style hat. But the main thing is that my head just doesn't fit in most 7 1/4's. You have to do some serious thinking before venturing into JtL's 7 3/8 territory, but I've made the leap.

Updated List: Now all 12 are on ebay non-US okay

I added two more hats last night (Alessandria and Whippet). I restrict to US only simply because I can insure, meaning both buyer and seller are protected. I know that at least one non-US forum member was able to bid, and I'm fine with that - I will adjust postage accordingly if any of you win. Under no circumstances will I ship to SE Asia.

If you know of a way to protect both buyer and seller in case of problems, please let me know - this is the main reason I restrict to US only. The one time that an item was lost, although I said up front that it was buyer burden, I ended up sending a 1/2 refund and was out the item. So I would love to hear a solution to that dilemna.

Thanks,
Scott

Saw your new goodies. I do need a stretcher for minor tweeks.. Being that I'm maybe on the large side of 7 1/4 and just picked up a hat that's just a wee bit tight at 7 1/4 marked size, would that stretcher work or should I find one slightly smaller you think?

7 1/4 for a stretcher is the smallest it goes. If you have a tight 7 1/4, it may be difficult to get this stretcher in. I'd get a smaller one. HTH

I'm 58.25, and bought it to stretch 7 1/8 hats to 58.25, which works fine. If you place it in a 7 1/4 hat, there is still plenty of room at the top, but it's tight on the sides. I have another similar-design stretcher that is marked 6 3/4, that is thinner, but only a little bit shorter.

I also have one of those massive wooden jobs, that I might put in the classifieds this afternoon.

BTW, your photography is very professional. The lighting is fantastic. Really makes the hat jump out.:eusa_clap

Thanks!

BTW - all I'm doing is draping a black wool jacket over a chair and taking it outside in the natural light. I move the chair depending on the lighting. Then I modify exposure or color to match the actual color of the hat more closely. Dark hats are a problem - if you could see that black Stetson in person, you just wouldn't believe it.
