As I've stated before, moral ambiguity defines the best of the noirs for me. A good example of that is Detour (1945) staring Tom Neal and Ann Savage. I just happened upon it last night on YouTube. On your recommendation, I've just started watching "Shadow of a Doubt". I thought this screen shot sort of captures the look and feel of the 1940s noir where the fedora seems to have been in its glory. -

Can anyone help me date this Bradford Ltd western fedora? My wife bought a large number of vintage women's hats at a yard sale and this was among them. It's too large for me to wear, and besides, I'm just not a cowboy. My son-in-law actually is, so I'm going to give it to him for Christmas... -
