    Uniform shoe

Thanks for all the replies. After much consternation I spent a day trying on different shoes. It turns out the Bates 962 fits me really well as long as I take the squishy insoles out of them. They were too thick to let me feet go all the way into the shoe. I simply replaced them with a thin...

    Uniform shoe

I'll look at shoebank.com. Thanks for the tip! I've got an odd shaped foot. I have two pairs of Allen Edmonds and that at 8.5 3E! I have a slightly narrow heel though so I tend to have a tough time finding shoes that really fit. The Bates I got are Medium width to keep the heel from slipping but...

    Uniform shoe

I'm looking for a good quality, plain toe oxford type uniform shoe that would go with a police uniform. My current assignment has me working an administrative role and looking sharp is really important. I've looked at the standard issue Bates brand shoes but the quality is kind of lacking...

    Burgundy wingtips?

I wore the Bostonians today and they were very comfortable! Since I'm going to be wearing suits and shoes now on a regular basis I think I may end up saving for a pair of something better so I can rotate them. I think I prefer the burgundy color to black. They just seem to go well with everything!

    Burgundy wingtips?

Well Gentlemen, thank you all for your insights. I have recently aquired a pair of previously owned, but never worn, pair of Bostonians from Ebay. They are the ones with the leather soles and fit me perfectly. I got them for only $60 so it was kind of a no brainer bargain. Still keeping the...

    Polyester?

Hmm...I have to wear a 100% wool uniform everyday and for years have wished they would make it in a wool/poly blend. The pure wool uniforms are prone to wearing through in places and a small amount of polyester makes them tougher. That said, in a suit I'm sticking to 100% wool. I think its just...

    Burgundy wingtips?

I'm a police officer and have been working in uniform for 22 years. I will be transferring to detectives in July and have started putting together my suits and shoes. I've never had a job wear I have needed to dress in business attire before so this is all very new to me. I'm wondering if...

    Detectives

RE: Hats Ah...but I love hats! The natural head cover left me about ten years ago so I have to supplement or burn! I rarely work undercover. I have the face, body and mannerism that just scream "COP" so its hard for me. The times I have work undercover I alway seem to play the part of a...

The Hat Squad That picture reminds me of something. When I was a young Deputy Sheriff with LA County I had the opportunity to work as a bailiff for Judge Harold N. Crowder in Division 83. He was with LAPD in the 50's and 60's and was one of the members of what came to be called "The Hat Squad"...

Ties and stuff Hmm...never thought about the lining. I'll have to ask my tailor guy about that. The Sig has a grip that will go right through a wool shirt if you're the least bit chubby. As for the tie, the chances are the only one that's gonna want to strangle me is my sergeant. The others...

Tex Shoemaker Lead weights in the jacket? Wow, wonder how that holds up in cleaning? I'm pretty sure I'm going to just use my Tex Shoemaker pancake holster for everyday use. I'd love to carry my lighter weight baby Glock on duty but we are required to carry a Sig Sauer P226R .40 cal. Friggin...

Doc Martin Thanks for the congrats. After 20 years on the job I'm transferring basically because its about the only thing left that I haven't done! I've avoided it for years because I really don't like having to figure out what to wear everyday. Doc Martin? Really? I'm gonna have to look...

    Detectives

I'm a police officer here in the Los Angeles area and recently received an assignment to detectives. I've never had a job that required me to wear a suit and tie on a daily basis so this is all very new to me. I'm a very traditional guy and want to look it while on the job. The only suits I have...
