How has your taste in leather jackets changed over the years?

Not only was the cross zip a metalhead's uniform, they were also part of the punk rock scene. The Ramones, The Sex Pistols all wore Schott jackets. Then the New Wave of Heavy Metal had Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and everyone else wearing cross zips. I think there is an old photo of the Yardbirds...

CHP AL's, Cal's, Langlitz, Vanson Photo repository thread

I've had my eye on the Vanson CHP jacket for quite some time. (The MK2 version) The Clint Eastwood movie "Magnum Force" and the cult classic "Electra Glide in Blue" come to mind. Those "heroes" in CHP jackets riding around on motorcycles shooting holes in criminals (and anyone else who gets in...

    Slippery slope ("collecting leather jacket")

Hell, I think your girlfriend is right, keep all of them! I would, for sure.

How has your taste in leather jackets changed over the years?

Never did like bell bottoms, for some reason! But I do like the A2 and other flight jackets. It was sure tempting to get a flight jacket from cockpit usa or legendary usa when they were doing so many sales lately. But I managed to hold off on pulling the trigger. For now, at least.

That's interesting that you feel that way. But hey, everybody is different!

How has your taste in leather jackets changed over the years?

Ah, okay, a fashion jacket! That's why the sleeves are a little wrinkled, I see. Must be a little on the thin side. Still looks good though.

How has your taste in leather jackets changed over the years?

Even if you don't ride, a cross zip is extremely comfortable and warm in cold windy weather. It does exactly what it's designed to do: block out the wind.

How has your taste in leather jackets changed over the years?

Jeff Goldblum looks very cool in his m/c jacket. Is that a Schott Perfecto? Looks like it. Yeah, I couldn't give a crap what anyone thinks. I wear what I like. I don't think about it.

    The Bates Corner

Yeah, sleeves just a little too short. Too bad, you got pretty close to a good fit.

How has your taste in leather jackets changed over the years?

For at least a couple of decades, I only had one leather jacket, a Schott Perfecto 618 in black steerhide. I liked the cross zip, with the shoulder epaulets and attached belt. I was crazy locked in to that one style. But a few years ago, all of a sudden, I started to like cross zips with a...

Dumb question, what the hell is a flying tog?

Thanks guys! All of my questions answered! You get bonus points! So that was why I couldn't find anything quickly about a tog. British slang. I'm in the USA, just a thick American who likes how Brits talk, but has no idea what most of it means. A Canuck is Canadian slang for a Canadian, eh...

    Cross zip nation

Center zip leather jackets indicate that you are a "square". Cross zips indicate that you are a rebel. I had always been partial to the Schott Perfecto, with the shoulder epaulets and attached belt. For a couple of decades, that was my only leather jacket. Then in the last couple of years...

Dumb question, what the hell is a flying tog?

I got a new Beck horsehide jacket from Legendary USA, called the 777. It's got a label on it "Northeaster Flying Togs". The first time I've ever heard of a flying tog. What exactly is a flying tog? I've searched on the internet, but only get stupid results, like articles about dogs flying on...

Jacket Collecting - Ever ask why?

7-8 cross zips doesn't seem that many to me. I'm almost there me-self. As for underlying reasons, well, all of us on here probably need psychiatric help. But seriously, manufacturers and sellers do some incredibly good job of advertising their wares. Seems almost every day I'm seeing some new...

Leather jacket sizing, too big or small?

I checked out the John Elliott site and found the jacket in question also. What a piece of crap! The model is wearing a jacket that looks at least three sizes too small. That jacket is also way too short for the model. He needs a "Long" size. If the manufacturer can't even dress their own model...

Leather jacket sizing, too big or small?

Yeah, I try to avoid letter size jackets. Cockpit USA recently had a real nice looking moto jacket that I wanted. Thought about it a long time, ended up passing on it because it comes only in letter sizes. And 900 bucks was too much of a risk for my taste.
