Sailor/Namiki/Dunhill
Ah yes, one can dream. An Emporer under the tree would be just perfect Santa! Such beautiful pens. There is no other nib quite as responsive and smooth.
Pelikan 25 Jahr NORD/LB
This is my current favorite. Deep Blue, almost black under florescent but in sunlight is deep ocean blue. A beautiful pen. Limited edition of 6,920. Comes with a bottle of ink. An M800 size. Found it on eBay, so there might be others out there. Not sure of the year...
For travel, specifically air travel, Pelican gets my vote. I have large hands, so the 800 series works well. No leaks, behaves in all conditions, feels good in the hand and writes perfectly each and every time.
I really like the Omas 360, great feel in the hand, but can't deal with the cap...
I probably have my mother to thank for starting me on hats when she bought me that yellow and blue beanie. From there is was on to cowboy hats and tricycles.
During the death to the establishment phase the european look was my thing, it had to be a fedora. Ball caps just didn't fit with the...
If I were buying a new hat from a dealer I could not visit, I would first measure my head with a tape measure to get the exact size in inches and then state this is as the size you require. This way they can find the correct size to send for the brand your interested in purchasing.
As for...
high price of whippet
Gentlemen, as the soon to be new owner of the hat in question, let me add my 2 cents.
Like any auction on ebay, you can end up in a bidding war. Difficult to predict the popularity. Having lost a few, I decided I would go for it. There have been others in better shape...
I recently purchased a borsalino which has a logo similar to mouse grey in the original post and those of Bellytank. The tag reads 2783P. The lining is sewn. I would assume from the previous posts, the tag reads American size not metric and "original house", that it was made in 1983. The box...
I live in Miami and find there are only a few times of the year it's comfortable to wear a felt hat. Generally I find straw hats to be much better and save wearing the felt's for travel out of the state.
More about Puerto Fino
The hat in the original post could well have ben vintage as the company has been in business for 50 years. The Columbian factory and brand was started by Bruno's father.
The store in Miami is also a retail outlet selling men's and women's hats. They clean, resize...
re: Puerto Fino
Can't tell you how they rate vs vintage, as I am new to the vintage pursuit. The store is located in North Miami. The hats are made in Columbia. I have a bunch of Puerto Finos, both felt and straw. Nothing really top end but great hats for a good price.
