What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

The brim kinda sounds like a mode-edge with a bit more volume? Very cool and great addition to your already impressive collection!

What Hat Are You Working On Today?

Here is a rebuild dye project of a Stetson 60s/70s 5X Beaver that was in bad condition with a nasty ring and glue debris around the crown under and above the original 1/4” 2-ply hat band. I didn’t take photos of the original hat but do have a shot of the middle of the dyeing process after the...

I had a hat with the same size tag and box and it was dated 2000. Post in thread 'Dating Your Hat (A Place to Discuss the Age of Your Vintage Hat)' https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/dating-your-hat-a-place-to-discuss-the-age-of-your-vintage-hat.30350/post-3150864

OTHER THAN eBAY Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

This 1960s 7X is pretty resilient and with some love should be okay. Hat was sold as a size 7 but it is actually a 7 1/4 and I have a #52 block for that. Lots of work required to turn this into a victory :(

Dobb’s Gamebird from Emry’s of Spokane. Interesting that the squiggle lines of the Emry’s logo are on both the sweatband embossing and the building signage. Emry’s Clothiers was active in Spokane from 1933 to 1951: https://www.spokesman.com/then-and-now/2022/may/15/then-and-now-emrys-clothiers/

    Akubra Overload

I suspect it has shrunk. In my experience Akubras tend to shrink over time more than other brands (e.g., Stetson, Resistol, etc).

    Akubra Overload

I recently picked up a used Bushman in hopes of getting a backup to another Bushman I have and wear frequently for fly fishing. Unfortunately, the actual size turned out to be a 7 1/8 despite it having a 59 size tag so I won’t be keeping it. Before I move the new Bushman along I wanted to...

    Akubra Overload

Here is a Heritage Collection Overlander that I recently picked up. This is a discontinued model with a handwritten size tag of 63. I’ve seen these handwritten size 63s a couple of times. Has anyone else seen this? I wonder if Akubra failed to print 63 size tags during this era of hats and...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Doing some reconnaissance on Lover’s Bridge in my Akubra Bushman. We are getting close to that time of the year when the ice is off and the rivers aren’t yet blown out with spring runoff. The fish are hungry and extremely aggressive during this narrow window and all manners of fly fishing are...
