Based on the clothes or the background, around what year do you think this photo was taken? For reference my grandfather (man on right) was born in 1920.
What was their view of them?
Asking because I’ve seen a photo of my step grandpa (b. 1917-1998) wearing a brown leather jacket in the early 90s and it surprised me. He’s the only one of that generation I’ve seen wearing one in a social situation.
The following pictures were taken in 1972 and the 1950s respectively
Are the jackets worn examples of Ricky jackets - or just windbreakers?
What separated a Ricky from a windbreaker?
And was there a particular “aesthetic” or fashion element that Ricky jackets belonged to?
Hi,
Back in the 90s my parents had a bedroom set that to me looks like it could've been from The Golden Era. The pieces were bought sometime before my birth in 1990, because they were already part of our household before I was alive. Over the years they were either thrown out or given away. I...
I'm not at home now so no access to my pix, but you don't think there's any chance it could be the early 60s? The above video is him in '62. He I the man in the blue shirt. He was born in '20. I'lget some definite photos of him between 45 and 48 when I get home.
This photo depicts my grandfather (man on the right) with his first wife's family. They were together between 1945 and her death in 1947. However, my mother thinks it may be later. I will post pictures of my grandfather in 1945 and 1948 and 1949 later for comparison, but to help, he was born in...
I've been reading this book, it was written in the 70s but it primarily set between the mid 1940s and late 1960s, and in the late 40s through early 60s the guy describes guys wearing shirts with 'roll collars', what are those exactly?
So I came across this photo of Elvis Presley, taken in 1946
If you didn't know the photo was of Elvis or that it was taken in 1946 you'd swear by the collar it was taken in 1976 instead.
So my question is, were wide collars such as Elvis' there common in the 1940s or was he just way ahead of...
What styles of hats would these be called? Brian Jones, the founder of the Rolling Stones, was often seen wearing them in 1966-1968. Also, what style is Keith Richard wearing in the last photo?
I can't remember exactly (these pictures are from 20+ years ago) but I will say I doubt it was straw because the first two pictures (in the car) were taken in December 1995, and he wore this particular hat at times during the winter around that time. Probably felt or cotton. Do you have any idea...
What kind of hat would my father's be described as, and what sort of band is that? Would like to find one similar
As you can see it was a bit floppy. These are the only pictures I have of it.

1. John Wayne on Clark Gable: “Gable’s an idiot. You know why he’s an actor? It’s the only thing he’s smart enough to do.”
2. Tallulah Bankhead on Bette Davis: “Don’t think I don’t know who’s been spreading gossip about me. After all the nice things I’ve said about that hag. When I get hold of...
