I highly recommend Levi's Sunset workshirts. You can find them on eBay all the time for between $60-$100 and the chambray ones are very nice.
Specifically this kind with the different sized pockets. I have three:
I do it all the time, but I like to wear more casual ties like handpainted western or hunting scene ones or distressed older ones to match the workwear aesthetic a little more. A clean, fancy tie, even a vintage one, may look a little too dressy for a chambray shirt.
As for pants, whatever...
About a 1 3/4" heel hight. Interesting thought about the MTO! The lack of toe bug combined with the toe profile and the leather used all lend credence to that theory and they're what I like about them!
Got a pretty “holy grail” pair of boots at an antique mall yesterday (for under $50!). 50s/60s Nocona boots, not quite peewee style but have all the characteristics I like about peewee boots. No inlay but the stitching is fantastic, good higher heel and great toe profile. I don’t really like the...
Picked up my first pair of engineer boots today. Never seen old ones in my size and I wouldn't buy this kinda thing online. No idea when they're from but the leather is great!
Not super vintage (90s?) and I’m not entirely sure if I love it, but picked up this Polo Ralph Lauren 30s jacket replica at an antique mall recently. It’s fairly well done but it doesn’t wow me. Too interesting to pass up, though.
I thought the hats in Killers of the Flower Moon were a big letdown. Modern crappy felt a lot of the time, overly stiff and the creases reflected that. Weirdly bad shapes too, anachronistic just like a lot of the music they used.
I agree that their shirts can be cut very oddly. Obviously when you buy online you need to look at measurements closely, but it is kinda frustrating when bigger sizes don't seem to scale in the way you think they should.
What's odd is I find the Mister Freedom jackets cut too generously most of...
Two recent additions to my closet:
Black Chimayo vest that was a birthday present from my girlfriend. I replaced damaged buttons but other than that it was perfect:
And an eBay score: Buck Skein Joe flannel western shirt. It's an oldie, and these pockets are beautiful:
Just have to wait for...
I decided on a shape for the crown of my new hat:
Now I just need to decide if I want to keep the brim flat or curve it slightly on the sides. I’ll wear it as-is for awhile and see how it feels.
I’ve learned a lot about hats in the past decade, and since it’s all self directed there’s some...
My hat is on the way! Western in natural with sand ribbon. 4" brim after curl, tallest crown Michael can do. Can't wait to decide on a crown shape when it gets here.
My deluxe cedar brown Campdraft is also the best felt I've encountered on an Akubra - I have a deluxe silverbelly Campdraft and had 3 other Akubra hats that I've since sold. None were close to the brown felt, and I'm not sure why.
I’ve made my opinion known in this thread, but I’ve had the opposite experience.
Very bad quality control and customer service, items not matching stated measurements and unexplained delays. I would recommend shopping elsewhere.
