I guess this jacket is made for civilian pilots/flight crew, resembles the A2 style. I wasn’t sure I’d like it, but for less than $50 it was hard to pass up. I definitely like it.
Sadly, no idea who made it other than it being from a small shop in China (no branding, only care tags inside). I bought it like-new for around $100 from someone that didn't want to break it in — absolutely one of my best impulse buys. It does remind me of CXL, but I imagine it's stiffer (then...
I wear my #8 shell cordovan service boots with just about anything. Pullup brown leather jacket, dark brown suede jacket, denim jackets, waxed jackets, etc. I think burgundy is one of the most versatile colors for footwear if you have a varied wardrobe, if not the most versatile.
Yep, wipe down with slightly damp cloth to get as much off as possible, allow to dry for a few minutes, hit with something purpose-built for cleaning leather. Condition if necessary, something lighter like Bick4 is entirely appropriate but not needed imo. Your neck probably has enough oils that...
Very nice, thanks for posting it here! Ended up buying it late Friday night, received it a few hours ago. It's basically a grail jacket that I didn't even know was on my grail list. Superb fit and quality. The fit is essentially custom for me, really lucked out and zero tailoring needed.
Anyone ever come across shoulder gussets that curl/twist? It’s only on the right shoulder, almost seems like the gusset material was either sewn in crooked or it warped over time.
The gusset leather seems to want to push itself out, which is what’s causing the seam to curl up (jacket is not...
I think the website called Olderbest is either owned by Bronson or they work really close together. The prices are in British pounds (sales are exactly the same, just different checkout codes), all the Bronson/Non-stock stuff seems to be on there, and all the reviews are shared between the...
This looks as good as it can get with this style of jacket (which looks great). I agree with pretty much everyone else. Wear it a lot and get it more relaxed and it should look and feel better.
I have a type 1 trucker that actually bruised my forearms lightly (near the bend of the arm) because...
There's a buckle for the strap. The piece of leather that covers it is removable (I imagine it's there so the buckle doesn't damage things you're sitting against)
Nice, stiff horsehide type 1. Ironically I've never really liked denim trucker jackets (for myself — I like how they look in general), but leather truckers are probably some of my favorite styles for leather jackets.
In the fashion world, a name or brand is more important than the quality of the product. Especially if the the stuff is being made by the actual designer by hand, which creates scarcity and a feeling of luxury — following that is the prestige of being able to own the product. The price will...
We were trained the same way in the Air Force — never put your hands in your pockets. We always questioned (to ourselves) what the point was of even having pockets if we couldn’t use them. The only pocket allowed to be used was the left cargo pocket to place our berets in while indoors...
Indeed! I can see why they didn't prefer it buttoned all the way up. Other than the lapels, I feel like everything about the WWII coat is better, including the way that the pockets somewhat overlap when you put your hands in them (I imagine that helps more with warmth, but I also like the way it...
Just got that WWII peacoat today, it's in amazing condition. Even better condition than the 1961 coat that I have. As the seller mentioned in the listing, only some moth tracking on the left sleeve near the shoulder. Hard to see and definitely not an issue. The buttons will need to be resewn...
I've now officially read 13 years worth of posts in this thread, from the very start. It's a bitter sweet feeling, a little like finishing a really good TV series. It took a while, but thankfully I didn't actually read it all in a single day (I'm not that crazy).
Such a wealth of information...
Bit the bullet and found a WWII pea coat on eBay. The 1961 one just got me into that mood, such good quality coats for a fraction of the cost of the lesser quality ones made today. It's missing a button so I'll buy some military spec extras. I'll post pics when I have it and take 'em.
