An interesting book is "River Horse" by William Least Heat-Moon,who with some friends really did sail across America fom the Atlantic to the Pacific using the river system and as little portage's as possable!
Here in Scotland we don't see many american classics but on sunday my wife and I were on our way to a garden centre(dont ask!) and at a roundabout a 57 Chevy went round in front of us-two tone yellow and gray.I just gaped at it-wife was driving -first time I've seen one in the flesh.
At Royal garden parties at Hollyrood House in Edinburgh, the waiters wear morning dress(I've done it!),but are bareheaded to distinguish them from the guests who would wear a grey top hat.
