Well when I say bulk, I guess I mean lots of 5 to 10. Jeans I'm not real picky on, I like black and cheap. If I find a good set I just buy 5 of them straight off. Though recently I went too cheap and the front pickets fell out. T-shirts these days I buy in lots of 10 off EBay. I find Gildan...
I only need the one. I wear the same clothes day in, day out, and have done for years. I buy the jeans and t-shirts in bulk, but for the more interesting stuff, boots and jackets and hats, I replace when absolutely required. My OCD hits top gear and I spend weeks, months, researching and...
It looks like it's legit. You can claim the VAT back in certain circumstances at the airport when leaving the UK, but not on Internet sales delivered outside the UK or frieght.

So if you timed your next Aero jacket with a Scottish holiday...
Oh, right I see what you're saying. So in effect Australian's are paying VAT in Scotland, then GST when it comes into Australia (which would entail a 10% GST charged on the VAT as well as the product). Yeah, that would pump the price up a fair bit.
Respectfully Garry, I don't believe that to be the case. My understanding of import duties are they are imposed by the importing country to protect local products. For example, if Australia had higher import duties on foreign made cars, foreign cars would be more expensive for Australians to buy...
Sure. I've just gone and taken another photo of the label. The one I took originally was of the entire box and some of the details of the label were pixelated, but here's the label itself. I ordered direct from Aero.
I love them and I do find them really comfortable. I've previously had western boots that I found the cushioning in the sole to be pretty average, but I find Ariat's as comfortable as a sneaker when they're worn in, with excellent grip and flexibility.
I've just bought my second pair of these...
I like Ariat heritage roper boots. Really comfortable when worn in, excellent grip and flexibility, and no metal in them so you're straight through the airport.

I certainly understand it isn't Aero that applying the extra charges, but do Oz gov apply other charges than a 10% GST on imports valued at $1k and over? I was only aware of the GST being applied, but I'm pretty unfamiliar with it all

OMG! I'm so lucky that didn't happen to me; I couldn't have afforded to pay it. I can't see Aero being too happy their customers being fleeced either; not good business for them if a service provider is effectively raising Aero's prices by 30%. I run my own business and there's no way I'd put up...
Yeah, looks like it. I didn't know any of this at the time, I didn't make any request or anything. But looking at a photo I took of the box on arrival, it says EMS. I can post it if it's helpful to you?

It was well over $1,000 AUD, I can't recall exactly the price (I couldn't really bear to allow myself to fully comprehend the numbers). I think around $1,400? The value was listed on the box in pounds of course, I wouldn't think that would throw Customs off track. Arrived via EMS; lucky for me...
My Aero arrived about a week ago. No taxes, import fees or anything. I was pretty surprised, I thought I was going to be right for GST and perhaps an import fee as well. I never heard a thing about it.
Yeah, I hear you re FQHH being stiff and heavy. I have a heavy steer jacket, really heavy, and when I first started wearing it, was a bit of a trial. But what I found when it wore in was that the jacket moulded to my body and, being so stiff and heavy, it actually started to grip my body. So...
Yeah, the sample looks great, but samples only get you so far. I've got that first jacket anxiety, not knowing how it all fits together into the end masterpiece. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a Highwayman and I'm 99% there. I reckon the black Vicenza will be the go for me.
Thanks guys. But the Vicenza's still substantial, right? I'd be disappointed if the jacket arrived and it wasn't still quite a thick and heavy hide. I got some sample from Holly and while the samples show the grain and softness, it's hard to get an idea (for me anyway) of how heavy the whole...
Great thread! Awesome to see it rising from a two year hiatus for round two!!
I particularly appreciate DD sorting out so many of the issues I'm asking myself. How did you find the FQHH for our climate Dave? I note your comments it was too heavy and rigid for your tastes, however was it too...
He may be, I can't quite see. With my other leather jacket, not an Aero, I felt like Santa's little elf jingling about with seven zippers all going at once every step I took until I discovered tucking the pull tabs in. Once I got it though, no further problem for the next 20 years. I can't see...
