Thanks for the reply, they do make a brim flange but its integral to the crown block, I think. So you have to form the brim in the opposite direction than a normal flange. In a normal brim flange that hat fits in upside-down and the brim flange is curved in the direction of the final brim... -

I got an eBay Borsalino that I believe is a pocket hat with the smallish coffin-like box. After some steaming and blocking and hand work its looking pretty good. But there is one odd thing. Odd for me anyway. The brim on this hat is very thin and has almost a plastic structural feel to it...
