Thanks folks. They answered an email yesterday. My unobservant friend in Ft. Worth was quite happy because they have a tap room next door. Beer and hats, a great combination.
He replied the same day I contacted him about more sizes and styles. He put it up for sale on buy it now, And shipped about 2 days after purchase. Shipping was listed as free but I was charged $5, so you might want to clarify that with him.
I had the distinct privilege of meeting and breaking bread with Art when he came to Tampa to visit family over the Thanksgiving holiday. He is a true old style gentleman as well as an exceptional millenery artist. I hope the rest of you folks get to meet him and I look forward to seeing him...
That color change is incredible. I'm glad you posted pics in different lighting. And the felt on my hat is very soft. Your hat must have a very soft hand feel with the vintage felt though.
Great looking felt. I just got one of Arts creations yesterday in Blue Smoke Century felt. The hats are so beautiful they just make you feel good looking at them.
I just got my first "Work Of Art" yesterday and have not been able to take it off. The fit is perfect and the Beaver felt is incredible. A better hand than my Borsalino beavers. I asked him for an Air force themed hat (Blue smoke, darker ribbon with silver accents and that's what he gave me)...
Hi Scott. Sounds like you spent a lot of time in Tampa. What area did you live in? It's really changed a lot in some ways and in others it's still the same old place. Got too intense for me so when I retired I moved to Brandon. Do you remember a couple of Haberdasheries in Ybor on 7th Ave called...
Thanks for the kind welcome. I will always remember the old men(like me) sitting at a sidewalk café or in the Centro Espanol smoking cigars. And always wearing some great hats. Panamas in the summer and dressier felt hats in winter. People used to "dress to the nines" back then and I will...
Yeah, Ybor City and West Tampa still produce some excellent small batch cigars. J.C. Newman also make machine rolled cigars here. The tradition lives on.
Let me know when you are in town and I will give you "the grand tour". And at your convenience I would like to discuss having one of your justly famous hats made for me.You and the other folks from the lounge will be most welcome. My family has been here 4 generations now and I can give visitors...
Greetings hat gurus.
I've been wearing hats now for about 2 years, Doctors orders. I've gone the fedora route because they convey dignity in a man my age. I've learned a lot lurking here for a couple of months . My goals are to learn more and acquire an Art Fawcett hat.
Dave
