My Akubra Federation 4 in Moonstone has a very flat top. I think this is because I store it on its crown, and that's flattened out the top of the hat. Is there any way to restore it so that its got a nice round top again? -

You too man. There aren't enough hat wearers around anymore. We need to bring it back. On a side note, I'm really looking to branch out into other styles of hat. I love the old fashioned hats with the tall crowns, thick ribbons and big brims. -

Thank you, that's really kind of you to say. I did bash it again, but honesty I don't think it made any difference. I realised it wasn't that the hat was tapered, the left and right side are parallel, it was just the angle I was looking at the hat from. Kind of stupid, but I am a little bit... -

Thought I'd post some better images so you can see where I'm coming from. Also, the dark brown hat feels extremely stiff when compared to the Moonstone hat. It's almost like they're two totally different hats. -

Yes, but when I bought the same hat in Moonstone a year ago and put the same creases in it, it didn't react the same way. I'm assuming Akubra use the same block, so surely I should get the same results? -

Side to side. It seems like the hat shrunk when I was putting the shape into it, because I used de-ionised water to wet the crown. -

Hi, so I just bought a new Federation 4 in Dark Brown, and after putting the bash in it, it appears to have become quite badly tapered. My other moonstone Federation 4 has not tapered at all in the year since I bought it, with the same bash. So I'm wondering if I've done something wrong. Pics... -

Yeah, I don't want to import a hat from the US because I'll get stung on import duty. So given the choice I'd rather buy an Australian hat, like an Akubra, but those Stetsonians really look like the sort of hat I was after.
