Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

I now this; California Sportswear Co. made the jacket in steerhide in the 1950s. The Palm Tree, made in California logo, are CSC. They were one the 3 major suppliers of leather outerwear for Sears. CSC began making leather jackets in the mid 1930. Leather Sportswear is all they did. They...

Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

This is a nice one. Early 60s, not horsehide. I've seen a variety of interiors in this era, but this is the first with "wool" lining. These are great jackets by a great name, Taubers. If you want a cross zip in this size, take a good look.

1940’s or early 50’s Sportclad Motorcycle Jacket

Sorry it did not work out for you. I have noticed some differences between "my" Sportclad and this one posted. The differences in the epaulets design, use of buttons on the throat latch, perhaps the mix of zippers. I will look at the model numbers listed on the tag. A historic note for me...

    High Large Leather review

You need a 46, trust me. They make them in a 46. My Fine Creek Virginia Beach is a 46. At your size, try one on? or get a return fit guarantee if you can't. I could not wear my High Large size 44 at your weight and height. I'm 5'9" 174 pounds, with a decent shirt, no room for more. Im not...

1940’s or early 50’s Sportclad Motorcycle Jacket

Everyone I owned fit well. They are just a bit longer. I think of them as a "gentlemans" cut. No intention to be "bad ass". These Sportclad, among many other brands, are considered a step down from a Buco, but they are not. They are Equal in any way.

    High Large Leather review

Mine is a 44 and fits as such. I bought mine in the classified here. Paid a lot less than $1700, it was on here for months until I had the money to buy it. I wear it, I have it hangin nearby for everyday use. Very classy jacket. Like you, I had been a fan for a long time. I know nothing...

1940’s or early 50’s Sportclad Motorcycle Jacket

You got a good one. I like this model so much I've owned 4 of them. I have one keeper in a size 42. The size tag is usually in the diagonal zipped pocket. You can see the size tag in the link I posted. These Wool lined Sportclads were first sold c.1947 representing JC Penneys first...

    High Large Leather review

I believe I have the same High Large jacket as you posted. I also have a Fine Creek Trucker. The Fine Creek jacket is sold as Shinki Horsehide, which it feels/looks like. The High Large jacket was not advertised as Shinki and does not resemble Shinki. They are different leathers indeed. I...

Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

This jacket was made by Roughwear Clothing. They patented the inner collar in the mid 1930s. It is a simple corduroy collar on the inside neck opening. This jacket is from the 40s.

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

This Windward is in on a Windward tack to me thanks to a quick tip from a friend! This is one of my favorite styles, if not my favorite. A Roughwear Clothing jacket with a Windward label in Pony hide. This jacket, in subtle variations, was in production from the late 30s through the mid...

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Just saw this. California Sportswear "Escape from New York" jacket with a badge holder. The back yoke looks quite sad. Interesting jacket to see.

Photos of cool jackets owned by others (non-brand specific)

I can not say what brand of jacket. I can say it is a popular Civilian A2 style, distinguished from a Military A2 by the addition of hand warmer pockets, lack of wind flap, no button down collar. These Civilian A2 were produced by about every maker and seen with numberous retail labels. Kurt...

Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

The little front pocket on the ebay jacket was the piece I liked. The grommets on the zipper bottom were not original as far as I could tell. It was a beautiful jacket. Nice to see a quality Woolie bring quality money. I like you Wards, the lining is most interesting!
