I'm curious if anyone here can explain the VERY wide leather belt and loose dungarees on this teen in the 1930s?
It almost seems like a kidney belt/gut belt that we used to wear when riding motorcycles back in the day. The loose pants look off for that period too, but maybe they were lose...
Here is the email I received from Hanna Hats:
"Dear Abraham;
I hope you are well. Thank you for your query. I don’t recommend to put a Walking hat in a knapsack, it would ruin the shape of it.
If you are looking for a hat that can be folded, please have a look at our Eske hat...
Beware... An Irish Walking Hat is not an Irish Eske Hat. The Irish Walking Hat is a fairy stiff hat that should not be rolled up -- either for storage or to transport. The Eske is designed just for that, plus it has a narrower brim than the Walking Hat.

Hello, I'm thinking about a new Donegal Irish Walking Hat to help me get through this winter. I have narrowed it down to either "Gray Salt & Pepper" (first photo) or "Moss Green Salt & Pepper."
Is one color the more traditional of the two? Does one typically look better on a dark complected...
I have a couple of quick questions regarding hat storage an care.
- When you first put a hat on like a fedora, do your store it with the brim "flipped up", and then flip the brim down once you have it on, or does the brim always stay down -- if that's how you typically wear it?
- How do you...

I am seeing a large number of fedoras, trilbys, stingy brims, porkpies, etc. -- both felt and straw, being worn this summer here in California. By both males and females, typically cocked back on their heads.
I've even seen a couple of (real) boaters, a few bowlers and a number of Homburgs to...
Thanks for your comments. First and foremost I am going to be wearing hats (as I do already when fitness walking) for sun protection and/or warmth. That 3.8 mile loop will expose me to ~250 hours of sunshine/year.
Anything pretty much goes here in LA. I just dropped the hammer on a silver...
I just dropped the hammer on a silver belly Campdraft. $113.44 delivered. which seems reasonable. Should be here by October -- nice timing. Thanks again.
I am a very serious daily fitness walker -- early mornings and evenings I just bought a house 1.9 miles from my office in highly temperate California. I'm going to incorporate the round trip by walking to work as part of my daily program. I'm 49.
Monday-Thursday I need to wear a conservative...
Was this a Wall Street thing? I think it looks absolutely hideous! Black shoes only with blue suits.
I'll even go a step further and say I would never wear any shoes other than black or cordovan shoes with a business suit.
I wear a 7 7/8 or 8 in Tilley, New Era and Akubra (size 63) hats. I am astonished that XXL and XL sized hats from makers like Dobbs and Brixton fit me. Some of their on-line sellers caution that these manufacturers tend to be oversize.
I'll be attending a number of jazz events in the coming months and I'd like to pick up either a medium or stingy brim fedora/trilby/porkpie to wear to them. My biggest questions are color, brim size and bash -- fedora, porkpie, etc.
For the most part I will be wearing nice walking shorts...
