Good quality hats for under $100
Stetson/Akubra OR arrived today. 3x felt is very nice, heavier than my 25 and very soft by comparison. I will need to try to re-bash to a different crease on the crown as it currently has a sort of pork pie crease all around and it doesnt look right for an OR to me -

I like the nostalgia associated with hats and since buying my first hat, have been wearing them regularly. I prefer hats to baseball caps, but acknowledge their practicallity when there is a potential for the hat to be damaged in some environments -

A Resurgence of Hats
Just noticing a sudden increase in prices/popularity on ebay for Stetson Western hats in general. I have a theory - Dr Who Series Series 6 starts off with the good doctor proclaiming "I wear a Stetson- Stetsons are cool". Since that time (or my imagination) I've observed hat prices steadily rising. -

Thanks gtdean48 for the information about the 25. I was a bit confused about whether it was an OR or not. The felt on the 25 is really soft and silky compared to a 3x Stetson Rancher. BTW What is the difference between Corrals and OR style? -

I bought a OR style Stetson 25 silver belly from ebay a couple of weeks ago and am certainly happy with the quality of the felt compared to 3x and 5x westerns that i have currently. It has the cowboy watering his horse liner so I presume it is from the 60- 70's? It does not have 'Open Road"... -
