Those Hitchcock boots look great! At $20, they are a steal too. They look new, but there is nothing like them on the Hitchcock boots website (assuming it's the same co).
If only the Bayfields didn't have the rubber sole. They are sharp though. And, for the uses you laid out, they'd be great. I'd love to see a pair that someone took to their cobbler to have leather soles sewn on.
If you don't mind me asking, where did you go to high school/ whereabout in Cincinnati are you from? I grew up on the East side of town and went to McNicholas HS.
I don't know about your local thrift stores, but the Goodwill nearest to me seperates all pants and jackets. It drives me up the wall. All suit jackets are the "sport coats" section, and suit pants go in the "pants" section. It is impossible to find anything worthwhile. I'm going to try to...
If you fly through CVG (the Cincinnati airport that is actually in Northern Ky), you can see some of the murals that they have moved from Union Station to the airport terminal.
That's too bad you sold it, though it sounds like it worked out for you. I'm also dissapointed that you weren't on some sort of package you can purchase. You're right though, I wouldn't be suprised if there was.
The 1st time they sent the Jeep over there happened under similar...
I see you're from CA, is this some sort of trip you can take over in France, rent a Jeep and drive it around to the Normandy invasion sites? If so, I'm having a hard time thinking of a cooler vacation.
Sorry everyone, didn't mean to turn this into a wool v. synthetics debate.
I think the ultimate in vintage offroad would have to be the WWII and post-war Dodge WC/ Power Wagon series. They are big and look like they can go anywhere. Plus, some of them are just too cool...
For sure, SUV owners that don’t know 4wd doesn’t help you stop are really just using it to propel themselves faster than they can handle, but they’re the same people that would be crashing a Model T in the snow in 1919
I think the Model T’s advantages are its low weight and great...
That's what I was thinking. The heel design looks/ feels older to me, but I'm guessing they must have updated their logo but kept the heel design for some time after. I don't know how long Bostonians were made the US, but I would coould be pursuaded that the logo is from the 80's.
Ok, I've got some pictures of the Bostonians I picked up at a local goodwill. I've worn them twice, they fit great and are pretty comfortable.
And idea on the year or at least decade of mfg? Edit - Also, they are Footsavers
Just got home:

Got a little more info after I came home from work, they are called Bostonian Footsavers. Any name that advertises comfort usually scares me off, so I'm guessing they aren't top of the line by any means. Does anyone know when about the "Footsavers" were made?
Thanks!
Hello All -
I've been lurking around for a while, finally joined up today after my 1st real Lounge inspired purchase over the weekend, a pair of thrift store Bostonian Lowings.
I'd like to get a better idea of their age. They say made in the USA inside, leather sole, rubber heel, and...
