My 15 years old chinese made Chippewas and about month old Chippewa Whirlwinds.
Old ones were the most amazing boots for the buck, paid 59$ for these back then and I have worn these about everywhere. Replaced heel pads once (DIY job), leather is supple and has much life left, although looks...
Made of thick (~3.5 oz) steer (most probably) or horsehide. Leather is very supple for its thickness and needs no conditioning, has developed some patina and graining, lining is wool mix and is in good condition. Pictures and more information from eBay ad:

It was made by Raivo Reintam, very nice guy from Tallinn, Estonia, who has over 25 years experience on making leather clothing.
He has homepage, where you could find some contact information:

Hello,
After two months waiting I got my new baby home today. Custom tailored from heavy steerhide (loosely based on old Harley-Davidson jackets), wool and cotton drill lined and with removable mouton collar. Fit is pretty good, although could be a little bit better, probably I just have gained...
I have a question about those vintage wool lined motorcycle jackets. Did these have some kind of interlining or was that wool plaid lining only insulation after leather outer shell? Same question about cotton drill/sateen lining inside the arms - I think there should be thin insulation layer...
Mash Japan only has main zippers - I could find these from eBay too and dye the tape black, if needed.
I mostly need source for 6-6.5" pocket zippers. With chain and ring or chain and diamond type pulls preferably. Probably I could make my own pulls for these and use modern zippers, but for...
Hi,
I need few zippers for my new custom MC Jacket. One 22" #10 and five 6" smaller ones (#5 probably?). Chromed steel is preferred, but brass would be OK too. It would be good, if smaller ones have chain and diamond or ring type puller.
Does anybody know some place where I can buy them...
Guess about being HD seems to be true, but I couldn't date it. I surfed last night around and tried to find pictures from different era HD jackets. It seems that many, if not all pre AMF white labels used acrylic interlining, not scrapped and pressed wool like this, not sure about AMF era, but...
Years ago I got some vintage biker jacket. It was advertised as horsehide, but probably it's made actually from very good steerhide. As it has no original tags (only one about cleaning), then it's hard to tell. But anyway it's very good cut and fits me really well. The hide is too damaged to be...
Peter actually told me that they have new model in stock soon - these should have more historically correct details (smaller and lower pockets, better grade stitching). I think I will shoot and order one in my true size and if the quality don't impress me I will return it. I know that it isn't...
Hello to all,
I am really into buying my first horsehide A2. I found a site called qmi.be and read some very good reviews about their jackets but I haven't found any good reference about fit. I talked with Peter (owner of the brand) and he sent me a sizing chart. I measured a 50's vintage biker...
Doesn't seem like Schott 135 - cuffs don't seem right. I have that lower picture on a full magazine page and there seem to be buttoned cuffs like classic halfbelt cut has.
Hi,
As I have seen only pictures of originals and these aren't so informative, then I ask it. i'm not sure if you understand it fully, but I give my best try to describe, what I want to know.
It seems that old jackets have the opening at back as long as the upper part of the back leather...
