Indeed she is. Unfortunately it looks like the stock size will be a bit too short for me, but here's the measurements in case it helps anyone else out
Dakota Size 38
Armpit to armpit - 21"
Sleeve length - 25.5"
Back length - 22.5"
Shoulders - 17"
The Arrival
Just took shipment of my brand new LHB from Aero. Everything looks great and the sizing was right on. I actually had a change of heart on the body length and told Mark to make it closer to 28.5" rather than the original 30". My thinking was I would rather have it a bit too short...
Well, from what I understand I ordered at a hot time when lots of people were getting their orders in for fall. Also, I've heard Aero has been limiting orders the past few months to cut down on the wait. Maybe fewer people order now because they want to maximize usage. In any case, I can say for...
Just so there's some good news in this thread, I got word that my jacket just shipped from Scotland. I ordered through Mark at the end of April, so it will be 5 months from order to delivery. I was quoted about 4 months at the time of order, so taking into account the August holiday it was a...
Thanks for posting pics. There are some serious deals to be had in the sale section if you can find one that fits. I need to ask my wife if she thinks she can fit in a size 30, because there are some HH jackets for $50-$100!
Sounds good, Dave. I'll look forward to hearing your impressions. For what it's worth, I did get emails back from some Kakadu suppliers and one of them said that a medium would have a chest measurement of 46" and a length of 30 1/2". Sounds like if I want a trimmer fit I might be able to go down...
Does anyone with a Kakadu jacket (specifically the Nelson or Java) have any insight as to the way they fit? I'm on the border between sizes, and don't know whether to go up or down. I'd imagine since they're motorcycle jackets they'd be more fitted, but the sizing info on their website wasn't...
Congrats, Jeff. Can't wait to see some pictures.
It's always good to hear about someone who ordered before me getting his jacket. :) Looks like I'm about a month away if they keep pace, though it will probably be a little more once I take into account the August holiday.
Agreed about the suede treatment. It worked great on my desert boots.
Griff, if you're going to get sneakersI'd recommend a pair of the Converse Jack Purcells. They look about the same and are a little more expensive (maybe $15-20 in the US) but there's a big difference in comfort in my opinion.
Wow, your measurements are almost exactly the same as mine. I hope my LHB fits similar to yours. I requested a trim fit as well, and I'm not planning on layering much so it sounds like I should be pretty safe. Nice jacket!
Wow, that looks great. If I had seen that I might have had a harder time pulling the trigger on my Aero LHB, especially considering I would probably already have it by now! Unfortunately Vanson's website leaves something to be desired (no indication that this jacket is available in brown...
Thanks for all your help, guys! I sent in my order and payment yesterday. I pretty much went with my original idea, and the advice in this thread helped push me in certain directions. Here's my final details:
Brown FQHH (Mark helped convince me that I wouldn't regret going heavyweight even in...
I've been in touch with Mark, and I'll probably place my order next week. He said the wait is around 4 months at the moment, and I noticed on the ebay page that he's limiting orders to around 12-16 jackets/month to keep the wait down a bit. He also said that he could take a deposit if I'd rather...
I talked with the online help to get some measurements and they said a size medium would have 49" chest along with 36" sleeve (from center back) and 27" length. That seems a bit oversized to me, even if I were to size down to a small. I also found out it's made in China. It's an intriguing...
More great insight, guys. Here's a quickly photoshopped version of Andy's jacket:
I think you're right. Without the pocket it makes it look too plain, like an Indy or oversized A2 or something. I will be going with the breast pocket after all.
Jan, those are some more good things to...
Thanks for the input, guys. I think you're right about the zipper cuffs. I think they might just get in the way, and I don't have practical use for them other than leaving them open a bit when it gets warm. I don't want button cuffs because of durability. I think I'll end up going with plain...
