no, no, no! don't feel guilty! they are BEAUTIFUL. i would have spent that much. but that would have been my only purchase for the month. LOL. but they are stunning. don't feel bad! enjoy them! i hope you take pictures when you wear them...i'd love to see. :)
epr25-would any old oil sheen work? or is pantene the best? i haven't had a chance to visit walgreens...but the place i did go to had different brands. and end papers are calling my name! heh
ohairas-thank you so much! :) i think i'm going to start growing my bangs out and see if i can do...
oh, red...i'm sorry! i didn't understand what you were asking...sheesh...yes, i did use pins to separate the straight part from the curls. :o
i will definitely have to get end papers then, because those ends just didn't want to behave.
Imoldfashioned and Red....what are curling papers? If they make the hair easier to manage...get me some!
Red, I just didn't curl the hair all the way to the scalp...I probably only curled 2/3 of the way...I'm not sure because I didn't use a mirror! :D lol.
Lolli-Thank you! I've actually...
Huzzah!!! My first try!
This here is my first try at curls! I used sponge curlers because I just don't get how to do pin curls. I really like how the back turned out...but I totally ruined the front. It was really really frizzy and tight, so I took a wet brush (I only used styling cream to...
hm....you could be right. there actually is a Russian flag on the bracelet. but, pre-revolutionary. that's odd, though. that they would sell something to commemorate the Great War...thirty some years later?
I just did an online appraisal of this bracelet...while it wasn't as thorough as I had hoped in regards to the history...it was still neat to get an idea of where it might have come from.
Here's what the appraiser had to say (although it looks like she had a monkey writing this...sloppy...
Lady Day-I like that rule. Simple and easy to remember!
LizzieMaine – You know…as I was writing my question, the thought ran through my head of ‘How did my grandmother keep herself together?’ I mean…they weren’t well off by any means, yet they were able to live well and look good...
Ladies, I'm spending A LOT already on clothes and such. I want to start budgeting, and am curious how (or if) you budget for your vintage lifestyle. I'm hoping that I can refrain from just buying a bunch of stuff, and instead actually shopping and comparing prices...and making my own. It's just...
those are beautiful pictures...thank you for sharing. i grew up in bend (talk about backwater...LOL), but portland has been my home for ten years. it's so sad to see these magnificent buildings and know that ugly parking lots now sit on that land. i'm looking at one right now from my office...
my first attempt at curling hair. i failed miserably at pin curls on my own hair, but my friend humoured me and let me play with her ridiculously long and beautiful hair. i didn't do much except curl it w/ a marcel iron and then roll the sides up. it's sloppy!! but my friend is so purty that it...
Bonnie Jean-the plus sized clothes i find are always the tiniest bit too small. frustrating! i've resigned myself to the fact that i will always be on the lookout and i just won't have a lot. i guess that's more authentic? LOL.
Viviene-i tried clicking your avatar and i get a message saying...
Lady Day - Thank you for the links. Your wardrobe is TO DIE FOR. LOL. Seriously, I love your clothes.
I am definitely determined to learn how to sew!
Vivine-I'm stumped as to why your plus sized dresses don't sell...I just bought a vintage dress through Dandelion...but, there wasn't much...
wow...thank you ladies for the links and advice.
i'm getting my grandmother's sewing machine and...well, basically her entire sewing room (she was a seamstress for 30 years)...so i'll have to try my hand and sewing some stuff! :D
Great! Thank you. :)
No...there aren't any marks or names on it, unfortunately. Which makes me wonder whether or not this thing was mass produced. If it was a special thing...there would be a mark, or something, yes?
Either way...it's quite dear.
