Unfortunately, if any sense of style, pragmatism or simplicity is achieved through an increased popularity of "vintage", it will be sloughed as quickly when a newer, slicker gimmick arrives.
The Golden Era is dead. We Loungers, and various other vintage enthusiasts, bear the torch for as long...
This is true. However, wouldn't using cotton lint to make "felt" be a similar process as using denim lint to make paper? (We did that in grade school art class once...lol)
The final product obviously wouldn't be worth a d@mn, but you could fashion it into some kind of wearable product and...
I recall Marc having left twice since I've been here; once for a slightly extended period. (I was quite pleased to see him posting again, incidentally. ;)) I've also noticed a few others who have left but come back, or at least partially; e.g. Baron, HBK, etc.
In fact, there's an entire...
1. Naphtha does not reduce the stiffness/stiffener in your hat, however alcohol will.
2. Coleman Fuel = cyclohexane, nonane, octane, heptane, and pentane (according to MSDS), or A.K.A Naphtha. In other words, if you're paying $15 for a gallon of naphtha, but you can find Coleman fuel at...
Perhaps a category titled Technical Aspects, with sub-categories like Suits, Hats, Shoes, Dresses, Shirts, etc.
Rather than the high-level threads we have now, which scratch the surface of a subject and introduce folks into the vintage lifestyle, the Technical threads could be highly detail...

Oh my; this would be really delicious! I suggest the next time a number of us attend a FL event, we should all make it a point to pull one of these off.
To respond to the OP, I wear clothing, not a costume. The only roles I play are gender roles. (although I'm often asked if I'm in a...
I agree, I think that's a big part of what gives this place lasting power; i.e. we're part of a niche that isn't really changing or going anywhere. Furthermore, we're able to participate at varying levels of knoweldge and/or "devotion".
I haven't seen any mention of an uncomfortable reality...
I realize it seems silly to blow horns about these measures, but those bills truly could impact all of us on the Lounge, as well as billions of others who use the internet.
(Don't even get me started about the NDAA...:hand:)
I don't think Edward's statement was inaccurate. Certainly, racial tensions in the US do exist, but to make an "all black cast" film should be no less advisable than, for instance, an all animated cast, or an all child cast, or an all "unknown" cast, etc.
Furthermore, most stories...
I definitely support the writer's/artist's/musician's/etc. right to protect his/her work.
On the other hand, I do not support behemoth government interventions lead by a minority of special interests.
[huh]
I'm not a blind fan of Lucas' work, or Spielberg's for that matter, but I typically give their films a chance. I agree with Edward that there are those who would praise George and Steven regardless of what they've created; perhaps reality is finally catching up with Lucas?
On the other hand...
Naw, Marc, it's not so bad! I finally had a chance to watch this (my work computer always blocks everything). I found this interesting enough to watch through. So this full length documentary - is it available somewhere to watch/purchase? What the name?
