That hat and that jacket combo reminds me of the character "Doc" Nick Nolte played in the movie "Canary Row". It is a great look you have going with that hat and jacket. :eusa_clap Cheers
I have used it to trim a bound edge and two western hats one of which was shaped drooping front and back and swept up sides. The only thing to be careful of is to go slowly so that the edge of the trimmer does not slip and cut in too much or too little. The first hat I trimmed had to be cut down...
After joining this forum I learned about trimming hat brims. I know that many members are good with scissors but I am not. I discovered a useful tool for trimming a brim that takes the difficulty away. I use a "Craftool Strap Cutter" from Tandy leather. It is an inexpensive tool used to cut...
I washed a couple of used fur felt Akubras that I won on eBay. Both arrived filthy with dust. I would slap them and a cloud would form is how dusty they were. I just could not get them clean enough to feel comfortable to wear so I washed them with soap and water. Both shrunk a lot so that my 11...
Hi All ... I am new from Canada .. specifically in the middle of the country just a 40 minute drive south to the U.S. border at North Dakota living in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I have been hare a few weeks and amhappy to have found this forum. I came for the hats but have found and interest in things...
Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull
My son and I watched this again hoping the second time around would offer us a chance to like it more than we did the first time. Nope .... it was not any better. Harrison Ford is just to old to play Indy now .. and the move did not come across bigger than...
If you want to keep the Boonie hat style of low flat top crown and wide flat brim have a look at the Akubra Pastoralist or the Akubra Plainsman. Both of these will have low flat stove pipe style crowns and flat brims. Another style consideration in the same vein is the Akubra Down Under. Just a...
I was wearing a wide brimmed acorn color fedora and a heavy sheepskin coat and a guy said .."Its Crocodile Dundee" .. now I do have a 14 inch Bowie knife but did not have it on my person. That is the closest I get to having anything Crocodile Dundee.
Little children look at my hat and always...
Hey Daoud .. check out the villagehatshop.com and look for the "Iconoclast" style fur felt Fedora. It is a good alternative to the official Indy hats that sell for a lower price and is far superior in quality. I purchased one last year for under $80.U.S not including shipping. Cheers
This is very true...in the end quality lids will stand out and as people become educated about hats quality will become more important to some people...the best hats will cost even more but will be worth every dime.
I am re-reading now for the third time a book that inspired me to make significant changes to the way I live my life. The book is: The Lazy Person's Guide To Success: How to get what you want without killing yourself for it By: Ernie J. Zelinski. Prior to finding this book I had just gone...
I am with you on this. I wear panamas and the other odd straw during summer. But come September when the weather changes I am back to my fur felts and wear them right into June when the weather really goes back to hot again. As much as I love summer I do miss my felt hats.
