Mr. Sable go to www.webshots.com and downlaod the FREE screensaver/wallpaper program. It is infinitely variable in features from length of time each image is shown to the many transitional sweeps from image to image.
You can load it with any images you want and make your own stuff. I have...
Fortworthgal- check out some of the home improvement stores and look for murals. They make many scenes as wallpaper-able murals. They come in 8' X 14' size and are applied as wallpaper in 8 sections. Easy to do too. Easier than wallpaper.
I have one of a Japanese garden in a corner of a...
I'd imagine that an old TV cabinet could be adapted to fit a modern set with some ingenious handy work. I did that once with an old Sears B&W cabinet. Got a 19 inch color set into the place of the 21 inch tube and guts.
Interesting thread you dug up here. Those early planes were the mainstay of air combat until new and improved models came along. Pilots learned to use the strengths of their aircraft, avoid fights that exposed their weaknesses and exploited the enemy's planes weaknesses. That in a nutshell...
In interviewing WW II vets I have found a curiously inconsistent customs proceedures when they returned too. Some had war souveniers confiscated and others were simply waved through. I do do know a couple pilots that got documents allowing them to bring back weapons though. The average GI...
The U-boat service bore a heavy load of casualties. Of 39,000 men who put to sea 28,000 died!
Check your vintage book store for informational books on the U-boats-
Werner, Herbert
Iron Coffins
Holt, Rinehart & Winston, N.Y., 1969
Busch, Harold
U-Boats At War

The Pampanito was my 1st stop the 1st visit I made to San Francisco! You just have no concept or appreciation for the silent service until you board a WW II sub. The word compact doesn't do it justice.
BTW- I found her while doing Google Earth. She's very visible from space!
Hey Doc as a guy familiar with Sakai we know he and top ace Hiroyoshi Nishizawa were sent on kamikazi missions but were turned back by huges storms. Curious to say the least.
There is an old book called Kamikaze by Yasuo Kuwahara. My copy is 1957 but there could be later re-prints. Used...
Melankomas- it sounds as though you NEED it at times and a stylish stick without a proper "handle" might not allow you to lay weight on it. A friend went on a cruise and found a beautiful one of multi-type and colored woods in Costa Rica. I think you should check out Ebay to see what is out...
At the classic car functions I attend there are lots of Panamas on heads! Saturday- winter in So. Cal.- I saw them still worn. Too bad I can't get them to switch to felt fedoras for cooler weather as I do!
Buy back programs only have citizens turning over firearms that have never been used in criminal activity and does absolutely nothing to take them out of the hands of criminals. It's just another "feel good" deal that produces meaningless stats to support crime fighting figures.
Anyone with...
When colorization began it was pretty shakey. The color would bleed outside of the figures and objects colored badly. They have it down now. I saw a colorized King Kong that Merian C. Cooper would have probably liked. He told me budget precluded color back then.
For me it's the editing...
Monopoly. I made a custom version that has a second row of squares and a double amount of money, houses, hotels for additional businesses and streets.:)
Being into the old car hobby I have found some diamonds in the rough that were very reasonably priced. Everyone doesn't need to blow 50 grand for a 57 Chevy. There are cool old Studebakers and Hudsons for less than $10,000. I'd have more if I had the space.....:(
You ladies have some cool hobbies! Good on you. Keep it up. My Mom just sat in a chair doing nothing the last few years of her life doing nothing and I'm sure special interests would have made her better off.
Well about the only thing I can think of is blowing on the dice while playing Monopoly in hopes of getting a double six so I can bypass the expensive rent areas:)
