Right on. Anxious to see it on you. Would you agree it's pretty comfortable to wear? It is lovely, just a bit large looking for my features. Glad you could "use" it.
Cab
Hey, Z,
No, it's in a neighboring town - Jacksonville. About 30 minutes from here. Same town where she works. I'm pretty anxious to see a rehearsal, but probably won't have time until the actual show dates.

Yes, Matt, looking forward to those pics.
Lady P, what a great hat. So close to what I am looking for myself. Actually, dang near the hat. Good for you. Very nice.
Rekindled desires
Nice, Dan. Nice.
You know, what is it about Optimo? While there are a number of good, new hats available, everytime I see an Optimo I think, "Wow." I mean that is, to me, the classiest looking of the bunch. What I dig most about their hats is simply the liner and sweat...
Treeeeeeeeemendous!
Root, thank you so much for putting these up. It is so cool. I didn't know that color was even an option for film then. Looks so, well, I hate this word as it so overused - surreal. Almost like recreations they look so good.
Well, thanks again.
Cab
Hi, girls (and boys),
Anybody in the Midwest? Mrs. Cab will be performing the part of Katie in the musical Swingtime Canteen next month. Set in '44, it's a USO show. Obviously great music. Anyway, thought I'd put it out there. I'll post some pics once dress rehearsals start. Here is my...
You know, though - and maybe this has been brought up before - how popular "should" the fedora get? Don't you feel sorta "special" (maybe on some level) while wearing yours? Perhaps that you're a bit different (not better, mind you)? I mean, if everybody soon wore them, then great. But...
Will the brushed felt feel something akin to cashmere or angora? Looks like a super soft sweater, you know?
When were liners always put in hats? That is, is it typical of this age of hat to not have a liner in it?
Looks great, Root. Hey, this is the wrong forum, but did you say you had...
No problem, Art. Thanks for the response. I am really only now starting to get some kind of routine and schedule I can stick to. My dad died in November and, while we're all doing famously, it did take a fair amount of time to reach a new point of "normalcy".
Best to you and yours and safe...
Jack, yes, that is a great hat and looks tremendous on you. I'd say the right shape and size (brim, crown, etc) for you. Like Wingnut, I think this suits me better, too. And to my knowledge, Borsalino did in fact have "their own" Cavanagh edge. I read it at the Lounge.
Art, anything like...
Matt, you've struck a chord with me, and oh, what beautiful music it is. Now that is looking very sharp.
So pleased you started this discussion. Good guidelines for me to shop by.
I foolishly passed on the last available opportunity to see the man at the self-same, then, Kiel Center. Why I didn't go, I will never understand. The tickets were only $25.00 and $50.00. We have spent well beyond that, before and since, for theatre tickets. And we're only a couple hours...
Right. On the outside. This is not typical of a 1940 suit, is it? I believe my 1940 has them on the inside. But then are the ones at the rear on the outside?
Also, isn't it typical to have two buttons per side on the front and one per side on the back? Or is it the other way around?
I...
Exactly. I know that one well. Have it in two or three places.
Hey, was there a narrative or caption to go along with that 1940 shot? What was Frankie doing? Well, talking on the phone, yes. Anything else to go with it?
That's the first time I've seen him in suspenders. Then again, it may be that all the early shots I have are with a jacket on. And the hat...again, the first of this vintage that I have seen him wear one. Interesting. He does look 25 here, but it's not quite him, somehow.
You sure it's...
