Do coat rack hat hooks ruin hats?

Hey, Duane, that looks familiar! I may need another one, though. :) I'd say if your hat is soaking wet, don't hang it on a hook, but otherwise I can't see a problem. There just doesn't seem to be enough weight to put stress on the hat body.

What Did You Want To Be When You Grew Up?

An auto mechanic or a racing driver. :)

    OpenRoad??

Douglas, let me say again, that if posting too many hat pictures were a problem, I'd have been booted off here months ago. :D

    Cavanagh Edge?

Oh my goodness Fortino! What a hat! I'd love to find one like that in my size.

    Won these this week....{update}

Great lid, and great job getting it into shape. I have another Stratoliner on the way that I paid way too much for, but it came with a DC-3 pin so it may be worth it, knock on wood. :D

    Good Mileage

I drive fast on occasion, but what I strive for is smoothness. I try to change lanes only when absolutely necessary, and I look as far as I can down the road to minimize having to get on the brakes hard. I do accelerate hard once in a while when the road ahead is open to clean out the engine...

    Cavanagh Edge?

The only Cavanagh I have is a Homburg, with a bound edge. It fits great and feels like quality. I'm still on the lookout for a Cav with a Cav edge, preferably wide-brimmed.

Last Days for the Stardust in Las Vegas

That reminds me, I need to see Don Rickles live while he's still above ground. As far as I know his health is good, but he's not getting any younger, as indeed we all are not. He is the one comedian who can make me laugh so hard my sides literally ache.

    "It isn't a @*$%> cowboy hat"

When I wear my Open Road with the cattleman's crease, I wonder if some aging hippie will start chanting "Hey hey LBJ..." lol I had a barber say something about "that cowboy hat" referring to my Akubra Federation Deluxe with a teardrop crown. Oh well... [huh]

Members of the Stratoliner Society, enter here...

OK, I'm about to enter the Stratoliner Society, assuming all goes well with shipment. Too much money, but it's a cool one judging by the pictures. It comes with a TWA DC-3 pin, too. :) That wouldn't stop me from wanting a Stratoliner or a Connie pin too, though. ;)

    Formal Wear Primer

I'll have to try to find one. I remember reading that Ronald Reagan had a short neck, too, and his tailor had some tricks to work around it.

    Formal Wear Primer

I'm still trying to decide myself. High, stiff collars and short, thick necks don't seem to mix well.

Can anyone recommend a good tailor in LA?

Would you reccommend them over Golden Needle Tailoring? I still need to have my brown pinstripe suit altered.

Yeah, they're "Little a, Little t and Little t" now. Bleagh. Bring back Ma Bell, phones you could knock somebody's block off with, and operators! :)

    The Filson Thread

I'll check again, but in the pants section bigger sizes are pretty scarce, especially US-made ones. I did see a pair of US-made oilcloth pants in XXL which I'll keep in mind if I ever go duck hunting.
