I'll take a look at the ones above and consider them for inclusion in the sticky. There are lots of interesting old threads, and doing searches and reading the archives is highly recommended. However, there are so many interesting old threads that there reaches a point where linking all of them...
^Thanks for the information. I got that one for less than $20 delivered, so let's hope it's in as good a shape as described. I'm thinking of picking up a pair of the new Bob Cousy PF Flyers to go with it.
^I like the suede brogues and longwings. Looking forward to seeing the Vass. I'd love a pair. Maybe one of these days when I get to Europe.
I just won this collegiate style jacket on ebay, not sure if it was an advisable purchase or not.
Most of the ads seem to have a Stratoliner in the background for some reason.
Al is moving up in the world, a pun for sure, but one assumes he's not 'moving up' in his vacation options. He's wearing a pinstripe suit, which is a business suit. He's carrying a briefcase (well, underarm...
We often view the Strat as a more casual hat because of the thin ribbon, but Stetson clearly was marketing it as a city/business hat. It's why Al is on his way up. Apparently green was also 'in' that year, as Al is wearing green shirt, tie, socks and hat. Of course, he is wearing brown shoes...
The "Mr. Disney" designation, usually accompanied by the well dressed fellow on the liner, is a later logo, not a model name. Mine has the 'Mr.' logo, and Art dated mine to the 1940s. The 'Mr.' logo came with the Currier & Ives box I'm pretty sure. I believe mine is probably late 40s as the...
Yeah, you're going to find that something like a Tilley or a cowboy type hat is all that you'll be able to find. Also try feed stores (Southern States type places) for work straws. You want something with a good sized brim. Since you're in a hurry I wouldn't spend too much.
Yes, this is very commonly done, and Brooks has done it for decades. Lots of department stores had their own branded labels. JC Penney had their 'Marathon' label, but didn't do their own hats (I believe it has been reported here that Lee made them).

As for Edward Green, Brooks...
A Brooks Brothers hat is something that I'd very much like to have.
I can't imagine that Brooks ever made their own hats. Whatever hats they sold under their name was likely rebranded. Brooks used to have a lot of their own workrooms for clothing, though.
To my knowldege the only things...
I missed the above, but were these simply pictures posted from a public auction? I have no problem with them being posted here. I would consider it for educational purposes, which is fair use. We have a whole thread dedicated to the posting of (completed) ebay auctions and pictures, for that matter.
Steve has answered various emails of mine, I've never tried to call him. I think scotrace summarized the situation best above. If you paid via Paypal you have record of the order being made. You just need to hang tight.
I'm currently at one year and about ten days waiting on mine. With AB the...
