Anybody have any experience of the Buffalo? Tark hits the nail on the head really - my main concern is how supple it would be versus the seal goat I had (which really wasn't very supple at all).
Thanks
Need some advice please.
I'm looking to order a cossack style jacket from Shawn. I already have an A2 which I bought a couple of years ago from him. It fits almost perfectly as a standard off the rail size and is in the seal brown goat. I'm not too keen on that particular leather as it is a...
Guys
I need some advice please.
In the last 6 months I've bought 2 Panama hats from 2 different well known suppliers. Neither was cheap, one was $200 the other $400. I've always had cheap hats but this time I thought I'd treat myself. The more expensive hat arrived this week and after...
'I wondered about ALC. When I was initially thinking about an Irvin I looked at their website but there was something 'not quite right' about them, they looked a bit teddy bear-ish, and the pockets seem a little 'tacked on'. You'd think that if you had the rights to the name, then you'd go for...
By comparison I thought I'd post pictures of my year-old ALC irvin by comparison. When I ordered it I especially asked them to use the lightweight fleece as my last ALC bought in 1987 was way too bulky. I much prefer the curly fleece on Soren's old one though I know from experience that the...
That looks great Soren! I think that fleece in particular looks so much better than in the 'before' pictures. I think any further curl will come naturally with age - that is if you can bear to wait. This is a picture of my old ALC jacket after about 15 years :
As youcan see this is quite...
Definitely looks better Soren!
This is a comparison of the sleeve of my ALC jacket after wetting it a couple of times and letting it dry in the sun versus the original fleece hem. Makes quite a difference as you can see. As I said earlier the fleece on new ALC jackets is incredibly straight -...
Ok sorry for the delay...
This is my ALC jacket which has since been put away for the summer without my having really worn it at all. No doubt I'll get chance when the current UK warm spell passes and the cold wind bites around late August!
It's interesting that the fleece on ALC jackets is...
Thanks guys - I'll try that.
Soren why dont you experiment with the wet/dry thing on a limited area of the fleece - perhaps part of the sleeve - to see the effect. Given it's only water I can't see it doing any harm by the way
Andy
Can anyone tell me how to post pics please? There seems to be instruction son how to post links to an external site such as flickr but I dont appear to have an icon to 'manage attachements'. Is this because I havent posted enough times?
If I can sort this I'll post pics of my jacket and MGB!
Hi Andrew
I've often admired the pictures of the fantastic original Irvins which you have posted on here.
My jacket is the typical ALC colour -quite dark, as opposed to the chestnut colour of many originals. I will post some pictures but tbh its nothing special - just a good everyday...
Back in 87 I bought an ALC jacket which served me well for many years. As time passed it no longer fitted me as well and I recently fancied getting a replacement. After seeing pictures of Soren's 'lightweight' ALC jacket on the original Irvin thread I swapped a couple of emails with him to...
