OK, Brent, I see the distinction you're making. I was pondering what I had already said, and to put a finer point on it, was going to add that perhaps I shouldn't have said Stetson made them, but instead should have said that I'm convinced these hats at least came out of that Brockville factory...
...were branded as such under license. Take away the branding and they aren’t even Stetsons in name. Without the branding of Stetson they are no more Stetsons than an Akubra Campdraft is a Stetson. What made the Akubra a Stetson was the licensing and the branding of the hat as a Stetson Open Road.
Thanks! I purchased the Campdraft and the Fed IV together and they were my first (and so far only) open crown purchases, so being my first attempt, I struggled a bit to get them how I wanted, especially the Fed IV. The Campdraft brim isn’t snapping down quite like it used to. It tends to pop...
That is about the nicest baby blue I've seen, Eric.
Thanks Bob. It looks like we chose the same or very close ribbon colors as well.
You see, Gary, you need a black just like your SB to continue your western theme!
Looking good, young man.
You have given your Campdraft one heck of a good looking shape - not only the bash but also the brim work are really spot on. One of the nicest examples I’ve seen, especially coupled with that very attractive coat.
A late start to Stingymas for me was followed by a two day break as first, my Fed IV (three days ago), then my Silverbelly Campdraft (the day before yesterday) saw some action. The Fed IV avoided the camera.
...have enough thin ribbons to really contribute there, but I do have a few Akubras and thought it may be fun to start the same tradition on this thread.
Here‘s my collection.
Top to bottom: Cattleman, ‘80s Snowy River, ‘60s Pocket weight Stylemaster, modern Stylemaster, Federation IV, Campdraft.
Sounds like the discontinued Akubra Bushman is what you’re looking for.
I think the Stetson Gun Club might work well for you. It’s not a gem, but it’s serviceable and of decent quality. The Dune is sort of a scaled down western or a fedora-come-cowboy hat. There was a time when their sweatbands...
...rugged and meant to stand up to weather and abuse. Look at buying one direct from Australia.....Hats Direct or Everything Australian are two quality sellers. Campdraft brim is 2 7/8 wide. What width do you want? Akubra Riverina gives you lots of brim and is much cheaper than the Stetson.
...want to get something a little nicer particularly for the cool months. I am looking for something with at least a 3 inch brim. The Akubra campdraft gets a lot of love, but the brim is a little short and I can't find anything similar that is affordable. Silverbelly is a must and my hat size is...
Hats from this past week.

I enjoyed a morning soirée walking about my neighborhood. This morning I was sport'n a Gannon Wanderer.

Don,
I have several new/modern ORs in both 6X and Royal Deluxe and can confirm all your frustrations. Buying these hats online is always filled with anxiety and hope they will fit just right. The fit between the two models is also different.
I also own two CDs in 59–one I just received this...
Are you a long oval by chance. It sounds like you might be.
There isn’t always consistency of sizing without a brand, as it sounds like you can attest. I think most would say that Akubras run more or less true to size, but they hare usually a little small on my head. This may do to me being a...
...thing will not shrink one bit.
Here's the fun part, reading on how to get the Stetson Range to shrink, now I want to purchase an Akubra Campdraft.
I have done all I can to find out how a brand new Stetson OR vs Akubra CD size against each other. Please if anyone has knowledge on how a...
...color, unfortunately the felt is too thick. It does feel like a bit of a step-up from a heritage Akubra, but I would still reach for the Campdraft in a downpour.
The only complaint I have is the talcum powder, which they could keep. I smell faintly of baby in my field jacket (not a very...
