Yes I found a bit on the bottom shelf that had blackened a bit and it is magnetic so electroplated. It just seemed to me an early 20th century catalogue piece would not have all the hand carving on the cabinet top's edges. The embellishments almost give me a thin metal feel when I tap them...- designrun

I picked up a smoking cabinet in the 80's in Maritime Canada thinking it was a 1920's, but took a closer look and there are details including hand carving that may say differently. The top piece is 100% hand carved, not sure of the other...- designrun
