Absolutely nailed it! Wonderful in every way! I have my first order in with VS for dove gray, and if the result is anywhere near what you received, I'll be delighted.
Hey! You mean you're not into traditional Oktoberfest hats, like this ... !
I bet someone here can tell us what the German name for this type of hat is. But I'm sure this is not what Steve had in mind when he started this thread.
At the risk of complicating matters, you might want to consider the Akubra Fedora. Similar to the other two you're looking at; but you get an open crown you can crease yourself--and that is the most classic look of all!
Absolutely beautiful! Love the ribbon and brim binding. Michael just keeps getting better and better, and you guys here are sending him some killer specs!
I'm having a somewhat similar reaction to the CP in Regency Faun I received a couple days ago. It's such a damned big hat, I fell like its overwhelming me. And I'm not used to its look on me...yet. Right now I'm planning on using it for outdoor activities where maximum sun protection is...
Is yours Regency Faun too? I'd love to see it when you get your own ribbon installed. And, yes, these are perfect when you need maximum protection from the sun.
New Akubra Coober Pedy, Regency Faun. I like the hat, but I'm not yet used to how it looks on me. For those of you who have not seen one in person, this is one whopping big hat! Makes my Campdraft look like a stingy brim! ;) Anyway, planned use is outdoor activities such as yard work, fly...
Akubra Balmoral. A bit heavy and stiff compared to my custom cuenca (which, of course cost A LOT more). But the Balmoral is very well-built and sturdy; and looks great too. Fantastic deal for the price, IMHO.
