Hi everyone. Last things first, I'm looking for someone in Melbourne (ideally inner north) to tweak a couple of suits. Preferably someone who knows more than I do about fitting a larger gent, that will know exactly what to tweak, as I wouldn't have a clue!
Now the Bangkok story. It's actually a...
Thanks fellas. I actually splurged and ordered a few models at reasonable black Friday prices, so those I don't like I can put on the bay without too much of a loss hopefully.
Yeah I've read a few comments along those lines, and it looks like they fold into quite a fat package which probably...
It's about time I acted like an adult and got myself some proper sunglasses. I find myself drawn to Persol, even though I have never worn anything like them (generally I've only bought mid-range Polaroid or similar).
I don't have access to their stuff locally, so I can see a bit of (potentially...
The image I had in my head definitely wasn't a neck medallion - my photoshop effort is as close as I can get, it was definitely some kind of very obvious ceremonial augmentation to either the jacket or possibly the waistcoat.
Perhaps it exists in some solitary movie scene somewhere, depicting...
Guys thanks for your efforts and sorry to lead you on a wild goose chase, but I feel like I'm going to have to admit fault here - I've searched extensively (again) and I just can't turn anything up.
I have to assume that I've conflated a sash worn across the body with maybe medal ribbons, and...
Yeah Dracula is probably a terrible example, for the exact reason that it's easy to argue about details when I'm really just trying to grasp at a general vibe, that may or may not actually be seen in some version of Dracula.
Instead of Dracula then just imagine some very grand, possibly royal...
Aaargh this is so frustrating! Can't find any supporting images, although I really don't know what to search for!
This photoshop is KINDA the vibe - but don't get hung up on the details, I'm just guessing obviously. It might be attached to a (black) waistcoat rather than a jacket, and I may be...
Hey everyone, bit of a teaser for you, but I can't think where else to ask!
I haven't even had any luck in an image search so you'll have to work with me here (hopefully I'm not going insane and imagining this)... :)
Picture Dracula in his sharpest suit. In my mind I see a little flash of...
I haven't called the mfr, but they are a wholesale (ie contract) supplier and don't sell direct anyway, so I think that's a dead end.
I have found a couple of 'safari jackets' that are similar (ie lots of pockets, and presumably unlined) although they seem a touch heavier and are mostly cotton...
Thanks Kuro, I'll plug those in.
I actually don't want it to be waterproof though (these new ones aren't) - breathability and quick drying are the main attributes!
Hi guys, I know this is a bit outside the scope of this forum but if anyone knows clothing it's TFL members! Just to be clear this isn't about looking dapper, this is about general day-to-day getting around in my rural area so practicality is the key.
I rarely wear a jacket outside of deep...
Hi guys! It's about time I got into a Panama.
I must suffer from a hotter head than most, but I really struggle with a felt hat in warm weather, and even the Tilley 'Airflo' I got last year is too hot for me (the double layer of fabric around the crown, plus the foam insert in the top is just...
It's an oversized Cattleman. The Snowy has a more upturned brim, and MAYBE a slightly shorter/more rear-sloping crown (but that may just be the brim playing tricks). The Territory looks like every Cattleman I've owned, just bigger.
Thanks Brian - I just haven't had time to get attached to them, and if I didn't have the Riverina I'd probably love the Territory, but side by side the Riverina just has the Territory beat. The only thing going for the Territory is the sturdier felt, and the fact that it's not normally available...
Woohoo! New hat day!
Well, there was a box waiting for me at the post office this afternoon, so these pics are as fresh as they come!
Apologies for the naff indoor photography and the low viewing angle, this is me being a fashion model in front of my webcam. Not a regular occurrence...
I could be wrong, but my impression of the Territory is that it more resembles a wider-brimmed Cattleman than a Snowy River. The Snowy River looks less tall to me, and more angled (shorter at the rear than the front). The Cattleman is fairly square-sided and it seems like the Riverina is too...
Hi Preacher Man, and thanks.
I'm in Australia so they generally aren't hard to come by, although most shops really only carry a handful of styles to suit the tourists and/or the local country folk. Neither the Riverina nor the Territory have made it to my neck of the woods, so I ordered them...
Thanks for all the replies - maybe I just need to embrace my inner Indy :D
I'm waiting on a new Riverina and Territory to arrive in 'sand' colour - that's a new one for me, but I figured I'd prefer wearing a paler colour and wider brim in the summer. Not sure how well they'll go...
For the last 15 years or so I've generally sported a brown Cattleman when I go out, it seems to go with everything I wear and has about the right mix of country and class. Last year though I finally found the brown leather jacket I've always wanted, and I'm not sure I can really wear them...
