If you google "patterns 1940s sweater set" most are shown without a hat. But on the few that show some sort of hat they are generally something casual, small and close fitting. Flowers in your hair give a 40s look, and are easy to find. I agree that berets would look great. I found these pictures:
I think ladies of the 1930s who hunted, fished or golfed wore similar clothes. Reproductions of the hat are readily available (google tweed cap) and look cute on females. You could wear jacket with a skirt or jodphurs or leggings with tall boots Look at this photo of a "Tweed Run":

You may not fit the "ideal" shape of some of the 30s looks, but neither did most real women. See the thread of photos of real women. I think with your shape you must look fabulous in it anyway. If you love it and it fits and you get compliments, go for it! Oh and post a photo!

The Worishofers look vintage, even if they're not spot on. I've bought Worishofer every year for the past few years because they are extremely comfortable. I can wear them all day at Disneyland. Only problem with them is the cork heel gets a bit ratty by the end of summer.
As I recall, bouffant flips were the big style (like in the photo from June 65) until about mid 1966 when Twiggy made short, flatter hair the in look. In the first photo she has on a dress that looks very "mod" with the little, high neck, white collar. 1967 was getting to be a more hippy look...
Here's the link. http://www.dollhousebettie.com/8850-retro-20s-style-roll-on-elastic-garters.html
I wore roll garters years ago when I was into Victorian clothes. I have skinny legs and they didn't bother me. Modern knee high stockings/socks never bothered me either but I've heard lots of...
My mother always wiped all the lines clean with a rag before hanging anything. Then that rag went into the next load of wash. She also recycled water into a deep sink next to the washer. One load's rinse water became the next load's wash water. So her first load was delicates and last load was...
