They are short. Any true repro or original is by most jackets standards short. This is because they were meant to be worn over a flight suit and not with trousers. The ‘waist’ on a flight suit being much farther up the torso.
I don’t have an Aero J-100 but a GW one. I think the problem may be the basic jacket pattern when new? I have found it completely went away after wearing the jacket for awhile. Especially sitting down. The back has now curved to my shape. I understand though that this is risk to take if not...
Big J. It was me that said “horses for courses” and it was not meant to ba an elitist statement in any way. Just to point out that we are all lucky enough to have many choices to fit everyone.
In the interest of true disclosure. I have never paid full retail for the 5 different GW’s I have. Some...
Grayland, I don’t think it’s the copying that makes a thief but the way in which it’s approached. Hence the whole Aero vs Alexander/Simmons Bilt questions.
Big J. No one these days can make a truly accurate repro. It just isn’t possible. The leather doesn’t exist anymore. Environmental factors in tanning processes have changed vastly, as have the livestock the skins come from. Not too mention the scarcity of original hardware. Add in the final...
It is well known by some that I am a very happy GW customer and I’ve had several discussions on here about the relative quality of his products. John is very humble and I’m not sure he himself would claim to be the final word in repro A-2’s? I also know that over the years he’s hired extra staff...
I showed my lady the Aero film and the next day she said "You know, maybe we should save up and take a trip there and buy a jacket each?" I think I just fell in love with her all over again. So, there may be an Aero Bootlegger in my future?
Superfeet have an arch support specifically designed for dress shoes. It is not full length so doesn't alter the size like a full insole does. Comes with little stick on velcro pads to keep them in place but I've never had a problem with them moving even without these.
We live in an age where no one really pays any attention to outlandish fashion and the "Greedo" is not really that far out there. If you take the padded shoulders away, then it's not that moto anymore.
I also tend to think that you get to a certain age and in pretty good shape, you've earned...
That's Zoe Ball. Radio and TV presenter, ex-wife of Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) and daughter of longtime BBC presenter Mike Ball. Who was for a very, very brief time, drummer for The Beatles. Taught Ringo how to keep a beat. Typically accurate reporting from the Daily Mail says her jacket is 'jade...
Oh the ladies love the shearling when the evenings get chilly. A couple have curled up on the sofa in mine at different times. Also if you hand an Irvin/B3 over for them and they feel how heavy it is. They get this look in their eyes. Surprised at how heavy it is. Then sort of a glint that you...
I've slept in jackets and jeans both, to get a jump start on breaking them in. Just wearing them around the house is more than normal for me. I'll talk to friends on FaceTime or Skype sat in my PJ's with a leather jacket on. Makes them laugh but they aren't surprised anymore.
They have a store in NY still I believe? It used to be affiliated with Blue in Green Soho but is now it's own entity. There are also proxy buying companies like Sutocorp. You could also check out Rakuten Global. It's a kind of Amazon for Asia and many stores will ship worldwide. Although RMC...
What I have always done with any jacket that has a full gusset sleeve is to leave the first couple inches or so unzipped. Makes it much more comfortable, leaves room for a watch and imho looks better too.
In America that style is known as the 'Pecos' or 'Roper'. Being as those are RM Williams, I'm sure they're good quality and will last a long time. Nice find.
I wonder if it's something that gets through the nylon and into the insulation layer? Especially with the wool/cotton lining? Hence the fact that outside cleaning fails to work? I have put both a Buzz B-15C Mod. and a newer US made Alpha through a wash in the machine. It took some deep breathing...
It's not like Mr Depp gives a tinker's damn what any of us are saying. People can have opinions and others can choose to ignore them.
I personally like a few 'accessories' and others have told me they don't like them on me. As for Johnny Depp, I do like the direction his style generally takes...
I personally think a shirt and tie looks good under most leather jacket styles. After all, when most of the jacket types we all love were created, 90% of them would have been worn that way. Look at all the vintage newspaper/magazine adds for them. All have shirt, tie leather jacket and fedora...
