I have a couple of black leather jackets, nd I usually wear a dark gray or black fedora with them. However, if one of your jackets has dark brown trim, that opens the possibility of a dark brown hat. Also consider what else you wear. Black leather works with clothing of most colors, so the...
Actually, even with pure beaver, there can be a difference. I've seen and touched a few. The block is the same, but the felt is a little better and Marc does a few things of his own to "make it his" (he's an artist, what do you expect." For those living in the U.S., though, I don't think the...
Best as I can tell, this announcement should not be taken as official or true. Until there is an official press release (which there is supposed to be), no report of any vendor for the Indy 4 hat should be considered valid. We would all (or most all) like to see an AB on Indy's head, but we...
I'm imagining that, with this article now posted on the net, that COW will now permit talk about the Hat's supposed maker. Assuming, of course, that this isn't another "mis-statement."
Some of us know the truth... the question is; does everybody now know?
(Insert sinister laugh here)
I know Miller Hats carries a couple of open crowned hats made by Biltmore... so maybe Biltmore has others. Also, some of Millers shaped hats are available open crown but it doesn't say so on the site. I found out by asking.
My guess is, since few people wear hats anymore, and most are used...
I used to use tap water steam, when I lived in a house with great water that I trusted. I don't trust my current water at all, for steam or for directly wetting the hat! I have stained hats with tap water in the past, so I favor distilled because it's generally cleaner. My guess is, you have...
I find Akubras respond best to distilled or spring water. Less chance of steaming the crown, too - which you want to avoid. I think I've gotten a few former steamers here to change over to the water method. I love it.
luvthatlulu is right about the charges. Along with the recent upping of first class stamps, package rates became more dependent on size. The guy at the Post Office counter told me that a half inch could double my shipping costs!!! So if the box is big, BLAMMO! I got really close with...
I should admit that I have never seen a hat with a strongly contrasting brim binding in person before... only in pictures. Art, your feelings about it make me think it's something I should do before considering it a real option at any point. So, if you're ever feeling overly sensitive, just...
Well, this news brings them up a notch on my list of possibles. Good show to BB for the courtesy, and to Art for the public acknowledgement! :eusa_clap
As far as I know, Optimo is your best bet. I've never heard or read a bad thing about them. Steve Delk is really backed up, I don't know Art's current backlog, and all other options seem to have fallen flat (to the best of my knowledge).
I promise, if some rich Uncle dies and leaves even...
I have nothing against all black, black-on-black, etc. But that is "too black" for some people.
And speaking of Obsessive Compulsive... One of my hang-ups is with edge binding; that I like it to match the ribbon rather than the felt. So, I like the Jaxon posted above.
Do you really find...
Baron, those glasses are perfect for you. I've always wanted something like that. I missed out on my Grandfather's because he passed away when I was young. If I had only known that they were awesome.... :eusa_doh: Plus, they would have been a great bit of personal history!
